I am a newbie to the 2nd gen stuff, not the car itself, just working on one. My brother has a turbo II, and is having problems with the add coolant light coming on. From the searches I have made, he has done most the same things others have. Today he told me that the hose (I am guessing a heater hose from the short studying I have done) that is located on the drivers side, near the oil filter has split. Is there a part number for this hose, or would it be a better idea to replace it with a hose from a car parts store? I have the Haynes Repair Manual, and plan to do a few checks on the complete system tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

found it, thanks for the info. By the way, what is everyone doing to protect that hose? Would buying two not be a bad idea?

Protection shouldn't be required. The first one lasted 15+ years, so there's no reason why the new one won't.
