Only true sports car is a 2-seater ragtop with a low restriction exhaust and flat cornering. Everything else is a WANNABE!

Bottom line...they're sports cars despite what any of us really think. The manufacturer states that they are...and I believe them! Long live the 7!

yes, the N/A FC is a sports car....not because of power...wieght distribution...handling...or anything else....it's the simple fact that it has no cup holders.

The Ford lightning can run a low 13 bone stock. does that make it a sports car?

BTW. This horse has rigamortis.

Where the hell do you get your specs? Until the 2002's I believe, no lighting had broke into the 13's bone stock. Im talkign about magazien numbers, not someones claim about their "stock" lightning. The 2002's I believe ran a 13.8 in the 1/4.

Considering they have over 400 hp, im not that impressed.

I've seen one do it. He said it was stock. I looked under the hood and couldn't see anything that looked aftermarket. He might have had something done to it but I couldn't tell. I also saw him run a 12.9X after he bolted on a set of slicks.

But even if it can only run a 13.8 (like that is slow
), IT'S a FREAKING TRUCK! They are not suposed to be fast.

My point was that just because a car is fast does not make it a sports car. The guy that I responded to was using the fact that he beat some sporty cars as proof that RX-7's are sports cars. I agree RX-7's are sports cars but just because a N/A 7 is faster than 6 cylindar mustang does not make it a sports car.

Mike

P.S. This horse is freaking stinking like my fist.

Some definitions of sports car,

Main Entry: sports car
: a low small usually 2-passenger automobile designed for quick response, easy maneuverability, and high-speed driving

sports car:An automobile equipped for racing, especially an aerodynamically shaped one-passenger or two-passenger vehicle having a low center of gravity and steering and suspension designed for precise control at high speeds.

sports car:
Term commonly used to describe a relative small, low slung car with a high performance engine and excellent handling. Originally, sports cars were faster than sedans; today, many sedans can easily outperform sports cars in terms of top speed as well as acceleration

You should have said it was on slicks. That can make the difference. Especially on an overpowered truck. I can believe a 12.9 on slicks.

My former car, Volvo 940Turbo had no cupholders.

My TII has the aftermarket cupholders from Walmart.

Not only is my NA FC a TRUE sports car but I would go a step further and say that with limited mods it borders on being a street legal racing car

sports cars aren't about speed, they're more about handling and feel, like skim003 said.
Ferrari's and Porches are fast, but that's not what they were designed for. They weren't designed to beat a corvette in the 1/4. Think about it, a Z06 costs under $60k, and it's almost as fast as a 575M, but what does the 575M cost? A lot, and that money wasn't spent on engine power, it was spent on the car.
That's why I don't like muscle cars very much, they are only good at one thing, straight line acceleration. Although, I do think that vipers and vettes are sweet.

Why don't you all quit whining and just get the best of both worlds like I did, 1989 GTUs Turbo, oh and it has cupholders in the glove...hehehe. Seriously I didn't know how rare GTUs' were when I bought it already modded as it is. Now I consider mine one of the rarest 7's on this board, considering it is black on black. Taking it to the track as soon as I get my fmic, right now i am intercooler-less which means I drive it like a grandma.
