ok, i tried starting my car today and it turns over but thats it, it got going for like .5 seconds then i saw some smoke....

i took spark plug out turned over it was sparking, smelled like gas so i think thats good but could check further

my guess is its the timming.

any ideas what else it could be?

Flooded... Take out the EGI injector fuse... underneath the hood in the main fuse block crank the engine for about 10 seconds, replace the fuse and then crank it up again...

See if that helps

If the car has been running OK prior to this it's not the timing. The timing doesn't magically change unless something breaks in the CAS or the CAS drive gear. And that isn't too likely. Like doom says, it's more likely flooded.

rx7s are weird, they always smoke, mine smokes white as well when its cold but im not worried about it, coolant level is fine, oil level is fine, just the way they work man. let it run for 10 min or so let it get to operating temp and rev it to like 4-5k and hold it for a bit see if that helps

Might be coolant seal, sounds more like its just flooded. Read the FAQ. Driving for 30 seconds is exactly how you flood it. Since you have an s5 you don't need to mess with the plugs, just hold the gas pedal all the way in, crank for 10-15 seconds, wait about 15 seconds then repeat. Do this a couple of times then try to start it.
