no power
ok my '90 na all the sudden one day has no power. i drove it to work, it ran fine then went to leave. it drove fine then it just died like i dumped the clutch but i didn't. about to weeks ago i had a new exhaust put on. is there anything the that could have been done wrong in putting the new exhaust on to cause this? there is some kind of check vavle the guy left hanging there (cat. converter check vavle maybe?) I don't know that much about rotaries yet. PLEASE HELP!

So anyway I don't really know a whole lot about rotaries but I've been reading about taking out the 5th and 6th port sleeves and cleaning them. Thining maybe that they are stuck open and this might have something to do with my problem? I don't know. I just don't really want to tear something apart that I don't have to. I did have the compression tested (fine), and I've played with some little stuff like the actuators they work.........any suggestions?

compression check was ok. another question...after the actuators are off you should be able to turn the little thing attached to the rod by hand shouldn't you?

Take it from a guy that just spent 2 weeks troubleshooting a "lack of power" prob- 1)pull your fuel pump & take a look at the low pressure inlet filter "sock" on the end of it 2) if your fuel filter hasn't been changed in forever, change it 3) if your primary injectors have many miles on 'em, change 'em or get 'em cleaned 4)ESPECIALLY if you have dumped fuel injector cleaner into your tank lately do all of the above. I can now take the entire upper half of the engine apart in my sleep, I've done it so many times!

I'm having similar problems with car. My max speed is like 22mph, and it seems like only half my engine is working. I bought new spark plugs/wires and that wasnt, starts better now but still no power. Try checking the injectors like wayne88 said, thats what im doing next.

During my troubleshooting spree, figured it might be the cat (bonez hi-flow, 'bout 4 months old), so I pulled it & gutted it (can't see the front of the cat, just the back part, otherwise I would have just done a visual). Needless to say, gutted a perfectly good cat... Also got a set of 4 injectors w/ 90,000 miles on 'em from a forum member, one of them turned out to be bad(even though it ohmed out good), I was just (un)lucky enough to have put it in the primary position. Put my "old" secondaries in the primary positions to fix it, after much cursing and having to take the intake apart for the third time in two days...This is why I recommend a damn near complete overhaul of the fuel system before you gut the cat- I even went as far as installing new fuel hose in the engine compartment while I had everything apart. There are lots of things that can cause low power probs (believe me, I've checked 'em all), but I now, with all my infinite wisdom, recommend the 4 steps outlined previously. If it turns out to be something different causing the prob, at least you'll know it's NOT the fuel part of the car!
