No oil pressure??? Plz help

Hey guys, i was wondering how to check if my oil pump is working b/c my stock oil pressure guage isnt working and i've been having idle problems where my idle can't hold. I think its also do to a vacuum line so im replacing all my lines but i still want to trouble shoot the oil pump and i dont know how.

Any help is much apreciated!!

Well, I would goto an auto store and pick up an external hand-held oil pressure guage. I don't know the specifics of a 2nd gen though, so i'm not going to tell you how or where to hook it up. But you will deffinatly need one of those and they should be at all auto stores.

Most likely the wire has fallen off the oil pressure gauge sender. Make sure the connection is clean and secure.

my dad's jeep had a bad ground and the oil pressure gauge would jump around and **** if that helps...
make sure you have oil too because it's kinda rare for an oil pump to fail...
bad idle thow is most likely just a vac line... no oil shouldn't affect your idle too much.. more like your engine will stop turning over LoL

heh, or just make grinding sounds like mine.
Check the wire, if it's good, verify with mechanical gauge. if it's indeed bad then most likely thermal pellet, blown out o-ring in front cover or possibly one of the two oil pressure regulators. The last thing it'll be is the oil pump, they're pretty indestructable. Oh, make sure you have plenty of oil because that will always give you low pressure. I remember my friend with his 260z did not realize you were supposed to check oil levels when hot and as a result he thought something was horribly wrong with his car when it just didn't have enough oil.
