no oil pressure! please help......
well, I just got my alternator replaced a week ago, and I thought that this would be the last problem my car had for a while, but now this.....
I noticed tonight that the oil pressure gauge was reading zero. at idle, and also up in the rpm range it read zero, it might go up slightly, but its clear, my stock guage is reading no oil pressure!
I don't know about oil leaks, I didn't notice any huge puddle of oil or anything, but I will check my oil level tommorrow.
I am at school, and have no means to try and fix this by myself. so I will have to take my car to the mazda dealership on monday.
my question is, can I drive my car the 7 miles to the dealership without totally screwing up the engine and turbo?

if you really have NO oil pressure you can not drive the car!!! but if you have already driven it then I don't think thats the real problem. the engine will only last a few mins with no pressure. make sure your oil is full. then make sure that under your oil filter, there is the oil pressure sender. make sure the wire is still attached, if it is take it off (just a clip) and clean it. unless you don' t have any oil in it, chances are it's just the gauge.

My car seems to not read much oil pressure. Oil level is fine and everything else is OK. One morning the stock oil pressure gauge decided to read a notch lower from that moment on. I'll be installing an aftermarket oil pressure gauge soon. I'm pretty sure that it will read much higher than "0" at idle. I still drive it because I trust my judgement over the stock gauge readings. Check your sensor to see if it has a good connection. I once knocked mine loose after working on my car. Very easy to knock it off.
