Unhappy No Gears HELP PLEASE!!

Ok so I posted that I had difficulty shifting into 1st and 2nd gear and have been informed to replace my slave cylinder. SO I replaced it and my clutch flex hose. Now I have completely flushed and bled the clutch hydraulics and only have 2 gears, 5th and reverse. When my foot is off the clutch it makes a whirring noise. Im really hoping my tranny isn't shot. Can someone please give me some at least sorta good news for once. Even if the news is that my clutch is toast.

Thanks

Ian Welin

Are you saying it grinds when you try to select 1,2,3 or 4?

That sounds like it's something right under the shift lever.
There is a small chamber under the pivot ball, and it wouldn't take much debris to block the selector rod movement.
It's pretty simple to remove the lever & clean out & check that chamber.

Here is another pic showing the spring loaded ***** that center the lever.
An assembly problem here could also jam you in neutral.

I had a quarter stuck in the shifter once. Couldn't move the stick left to select 1st or 2nd gear.

I also have a similar problem as Wufei except it is only a problem shifting into first gear.

What is strange is that it is occasional and totally random. A slight whirring sound can be heard and I have to kind of search around for the gate.

The problem seems more apparent when cold. Would changing the fluid under the shifter help?

Also it sometimes help by holding the clutch and shifting to second and then up to first it that helps at all.

I can say with 99% certanty you still have a hydraulic problem somewhere.

These are the EXACT symptoms mine had when I had a broken clutch hose that leaked.

The problem is bieng caused by your engine not bieng completley disengaged from the transmission.

I guess all that is left to be bad is your master cylinder.

Ok I just took apart my shifter assembly, from inside the car. All the bushings are intact. I am about to replace the master cylinder. Cause I still have only 5th and reverse, even if the car off. If anyone has any other ideas or solutions PLEASE tell me.

Thanx

Ok SO now I have changed all of my clutch hydraulics and its still not going into gear. This is also when the car is off. A mechanic is coming by to look at my car today, said he thinks it could be the selector or the tranny itself.
