Question no compression?

I am looking to buy a 1988 mazda RX-7 GXL. I went to look at it, but it would not start. The engine was getting fire and fuel, but i think that there wasn't enough compression to start. Am I right or not, and how can I fix it? Any help would be apprieciated. thanks

re:no compression?

Spark plugs may be wet with fuel.
If so, pull offf the EGI fuse and crank the engine witout fuel injection for seconds such that fuel in the combustion chabers is expelled. Then, insert the EGI fuse and crank the engine again. Good luck!

i am having the same problem... i have fuel and a week spark... i tried changing plugs and wires, which didnt work... and i'm get'n within spec impedance at the coils- .8 leading, .5 both trailing... i just tried your suggestion w/ EGI fuse... it sounded promising, but still doesnt start... what's my next step?

You're probably flooded. Go ahead and try the unflooding procedure and see if that works. If not, check all the fuses and the main relay for the motor.

You know what I do to unflood a motor thats sat forever and has no compression?

I just get a cup of MMO, and find a vac line close to the rotors. Toss the vac line into the cup of MMO, and crank the motor while it sucks the MMO into the chambers. Brings compression up real fast!
