can anyone help me out here. My 88 Se with 5-bolt swap has absolutely no pressure on the brakes. I can pump them for hours and no pressure builds with the car running or not. Can someone please help me out here. There are no visible leaks or anything and the fluid level is good. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks

 

did you properly bleed it? Check your master and slave cylinders aswell.

 

I think I have the same problem:\ I drove my fc from SC to NY and left it sitting since January. Since then I tried to start it and it wont start and I also noticed the brake wouldn't push in at all.

 

yeah i properly bleed it (i think). It was all fine and dandy for about a month after completing the swap and now theres nothing...so i dont know... Also how do i go about checking the master and slave cylinders? thanks again

 

well I have not delt with the brakes.(yet) but I have delt with my clutch slave cylinder, basically it was jut leaking fluid out the *** where the little rod is connected with a rubber dust boot. Look for leaks on the inside of the car around the brake pedal and clutch pedal.

 

well there are no leaks...unless they are going under the carpet or something. Im stumped here and its really starting to get annoying, ive been trying to chase this bug all day with no luck in figuring out what the problem is

Here's what you do, Most likely, you're master cylinder is leaking. Probably not at your brake lines, but inside the power booster. First, Turn off your engine. Press on the brakes until the pedal gets hard or even hard at all. Take out the vaccum hose out of the power booster. You'll might hear a wierd sound because vaccum might be still inside. Check for fluid inside. Its a small hole so bring like a string or something and tuck it inside and pull out and see if theres any fluid. Sometimes it leaks inside. Make sure you properly bleed it. Wheel fartest away from the master cylinder. So it should be RR, LR, RF, LF. Check for the obvious. Any brake fluid? Sorry, had to ask. Check all your caliper for leaks. Look around the caliper pistons, caliper boots. Check it out and tell us your results. If everything checks out okay, try getting a brake flush. It will mostly solve the problem if everything checks out okay. Are you getting any kind of pressure? Could be the power booster adjustment rod. You're gonna have to take out the master cylinder to adjust that. Let us know.

 

im not getting any pressure at all, ill check those tomorrow and let ya know how it goes, thanks again

 

Brake a line loose a few turns at the master cyl. Don't take it all the way out. Push pedal down to see if fluid is expelled. If fluid comes out cyl would seem to be working properly. If cyl ok, loosen either right rear bleeder (2 on each caliper), connect a hose to that bleeder and place it into discarded brake fluid. Just keep pushing pedal until you see fluid appear. Keep master cyl filled. Give it a try.
