Question Nitrous on Rotary?

I know that an N-tercooler kit would be a good decision, but what about direct port? Has anyone had any BAD experiences on the bottle, or does the rotary seem to take well to it? I'm just wondering because I've asked myself this many times, and meant to ask everyone on here, so I finally got to it. What size shot, what type of kit, all that. Thanks guys!

why does everyone want to put nitrous on their car? Is it just me but it seems sorta retarded. Why not just spend that money on a mod thats not killing your engine and that you don't ahve to refil?

If your car and your nitrous system is setup PROPERLY then you should have no problems with running nitrous, also how you drive your car.

Turbochargers, superchargers (SC), and nitrous oxide all introduce extra oxygen into the combustion chamber yeilding the same result when properly mixed with fuel: More power.

Now, turbos and SC run constantly. This extra wear decrease engine life.

Nitrous oxide only works when you push the button. Less decrease on engine life unless you constantly use the juice.

And like someone mentioned, do a search for a write up by Scathcart, its very informative. I don't know why its not in the archives.

the moderators should put that nitrous writeup by scathcart at the TOP when searching for "nitrous"- that way I would've read that first and not look so ignorant asking about the topic... I agree w/ project84; I drive 100 miles round trip each day w/ my almost stock car and don't need the (supposed) unreliability of a turbocharged engine. Maybe once a week do I kick her in (civics & mustangs like to dick w/ me) on the highway,a 50 shot would do it nicely for those few times I want MORE out of the car! By the way, Scathcart, you da man...

Please don't post about subjects with which you have no knowledge or experience. I suggest you search for nitrous threads too, and read info from people who know what they're talking about, particularly scathcart.

A properly set up turbo engine is no more or less reliable that a properly set up nitrous'd engine. Poor modification and/or misuse are far more like causes or unreliablitly.

BTW, you need to move closer to work...

maybe you should move 200 miles from your work! Then you'd have lots of "alone" time with your car... Personally though, less time spent driving to work = more free time spent working on car

exactly...just that little extra, without spending 1000's on a 16 year-old car that the wheels will be falling off of in another 5 years:O

My general rule of thumb is that nitrous cannot be safely run on the stock turbocharger.
Nitrous is far too heavy on exhaust products for the stock wastegates, even ported, to keep up.
A conservative 35hp shot might be alright with a massively ported wastegate, but there's no guarantee...

Lemme know if you need more info.

Should I use my MBC to aim for lower boost(say 8#) in anticipation of boost creeping up once I start spraying. As I said my wastegate is still flowing enough to not have issues even with 3"back,intake,TID, and a portedTB so I am hoping it will handle the additional exhaust made by a 35 or 50 shot. Should I ritchen it up further with my SAFC or trust the fuel jetting?

Are you asking if you should use your MBC to lower your boost?

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=269381
i posted two videos on there but the first one is what i'm reffering to.

i don't think upping the boost is a very good idea. how the hell are you guys making so much power without boosting too much???

i think what he's trying to say is: he's running a higher boost now with the MBC and can lower to 8psi if he needs to.
