Question Nitrous Oxide....Easy or Hard?

Hey guys,
Just wondering how much having a rotary engine complicates adding a nitrous system. I hate the idea of nos (no craftmanship involved, seems cheap) but i'm running out of things to mod on my NA. I want a moderate shot...I know my tranny cant take much more. Thanks,

Micah

Make sure you have the proper fuel for it, use a wet kit.

Easy or hard is up to YOU, noone else.

Thx...but is there any other options I could take to make me faster? I've only got about 16,000 on rebuilt motor and i don't want to rebuild again bc of nos wear and tear!

Other options? WTF mate.

Anything that is a "power adder" will increase wear and shorten the life span of an engine. Be it N20, Turbo, Super Charger, Porting, etc. They all change reliability somewhat.

this will make you go faster
and its free
and it has no wear on the engine:

weight reduction.

its been said time and time again but it all comes down to power vs. weight

Maybe he wants certain items in his car?

For nitrous go to http://www.1300cc.com for Scathrats write up, nothing is better (as far as info goes for NOS and Rotary). Have fun!

thing wrong with nitrous AT ALL

it is fun and cheap if you dont use it all the time

i have a 250hp shot in my chevelle and it sure is fun to hit it!

just make sue you be safe... start with bigger fuel jets then go down, back off timing about 3-4 degrees per 100 shot, etc

Personally, I dont like nitrous. I think of it as almost "cheating" in a sense. It is a great power adder but puts lots of stress on internals and a stock tranny.(especially an N/A)

you're only using nos in a straight line, don't see too much of a reason to use it in corners.

So how you gonna put all that stress on that tranny? I'm running hybrid to4e turbo on my car and using n/a tranny. It takes it quite well.

Visualize the power-up of both setups.

Turbo= spooling time

Nitrous=instant jarring of the engine/driveline....

Its not the same.

Actually if tuned correctly, its just fine for the stock internals. Itll does as much damage as your turbo does. And your tranny? Keep it reasonable and you'll be ok. (Alot of guys here run 300hp on NA tranny).

So whats your point?

When's the last time you heard of a tranny/rearend dropping out on accel?
Everytime I've had it happen was during a shift, or a throttle transition.

Its not any harder on the transmission than a turbo engine producing the same amount of torque.

its how fast the torque is delivered, turbos spool up, nitrous hits and it ******* hits hard

haha ^

As for the Nitrous, make sure you have a lot of knowledge about fluid dynamics and fuel. Read up on it, I personally dont believe its a bad idea if you can generate a good wet system.

You can do it for around $1000-$1200 to do make using the system VERY easy, which includes a bunch of nitrous system extras. A system like that would support 150 hp jettings if you bought a kit... and if you assembled the kit yourself, up to 400hp.

I have seen it done as cheaply as $550 with all new parts... but without all the extras.

I typically use a local distributor to get parts, but summit racing has pretty much all the parts you'd need and in stock, which is always nice.

75 wet shot is not what I consider "small" for a 13B NA.
Most of the time, we're talking about 75hp at the WHEELS, so we're talking over 50% over your existing horsepower???
That's a LOT of nitrous power on the engine...
