New Turbo

I have an 88 TII which I've replaced the turbos with "good" used ones/rebuilt mine going on three times in four years. Instead of getting a "good" used one or rebuild one, I want to buy a new one. The factory OEM is over $2K. Is there a cheaper alternative?

My only mods are Bonez intake, RB turbo back exhaust, and G-force unlimited ECU.

Please help.

buy a used one from a 89+. Much better the a s4 turbo you shouldn't have any problems with it. Also check your oil lines for leaks. You might be starving them.

Yup the parts should run ~80-130USD then have a shop rebuild it. Just call around for the best price!

Send it to this place: http://www.majesticturbo.com/ They do good work in a timely manner. Give 'em a call. Also ask about an upgrade.

Factory parts are stupidly overpriced, just the turbo unit over 2k, a logicon for an S5 (state of the art technology!) something like $450.

I rebuilt my last turbo via Majestic Turbo. With everything else completely new on the car (gaskets, oil lines, etc) that turbo only lasted a little over a year and is now leaking past oil seals. Plus because the exhaust housing was cracked (and Majestic does not fix that) it now has caused a leak between the manifold and turbo.

I think it stinks that nobody sells new exhaust housings for these turbos. I said NEW...not rebuilt.

So, to prevent another $1, 500 (parts and labor) from lasting only a year, I now want to buy a new one...or a new upgrade (from someone like HKS, etc). I'm tired of used turbos going bad...and rebuilt ones not lasting.

Buy new..seal it up correctly..and it should last.

I'm looking into Cheapturbo.com as well for rebuilds.

I'm a little scared to put a S5 Jspec turbo on my freshly rebuilt baby.
