NA rx7's are pretty cheap to maintain and are pretty cheap to buy as well. NA's usually last well over 150,000 miles. Change the oil every 3000 miles and redline it every opnce in awhile. Don't ever overheat it and you should have a very reliable car.
I had to get this in before 80 people decide to post SEARCH. I hate it when they do that....

im almost at the 200,000 mark with my NA, even with the previous owner neglecting the car it still runs decent, and all minor probs i fixed for the same cost as repairing any other car. GO FOR IT!

yo man, i'm in the same boat as you, i.e. poor college student. i got one for $850 with 206,000 on the odometer, but it has been treated well, so it has been worth it so far... but be aware that you WILL need to fix it up some (I've put about another $1100 into mine, and it still isn't all the way fixed yet)

In my 19 years experience with the RX-7's they make great reliable transport cars that are economical to maintain. As already posted, change oil, redline once in awhile and the other tip given to me is try to avoid driving for extended periods at lower than 2500 rpms. The problem being is that you have found this forum and you will start reading about the easy and inexpensive mods and before long you will be in over your head.
