New rebuild problems

Alright. I've gotten my car running with all of the little tweeks and problems you guys have been helping me with. THANKS!
but I have a few more questions and problems.
Like I said the car is running nice... and smooth as hell considering its a rebuild with no clicks on the engine, I wasn't expecting it to be this smooth so soon but hey im not complaining. So today I went to start the car and obviously I didn't expect it to start the first time.. It didnt... nor the second, third...etc. The car was catching at first but now its not at all.. FLOODED!? yeah i think so. Anyways now with the questions...

Since its a fresh rebuild and I've changed the oil twice since the oil smelled like gas (flooding) Should I change it a third time already or do i leave it until i get her running a little more consistant?

I know chances are I have a vacuum leak but would a vacuum leak cause the car not to start but allow it to still run smooth?

The oil pressure gauge shoots straight up before I even start the car (when I turn the key to acc) it also stays their...(dealer says its prob a pinched wire). Can I buy a gauge cluster and just forget about the (pinched wire) and use the new gauge to read my oil pressure?

Anybody use quickstart instead of ATF to unflood there car? if so how do you inject it in?

The box infront of the cold start bottle what is it for? it seems to help at times if i hold it open but i have to do it by hand... think its broken...

its probably flooded..install a fuel cut off switch so you dont have to unflood it everytime.

IT is also recommended to have a fuel cutoff switch installed(for 86-88s) before trying to start a rebuild, as it will want to flood every time it is shut off

thats from Kevin Landers.

if you have an S5 i believe to cut the fuel, just press the gas pedal to the floor and hold it therel while trying to start it... works for me almost every single time

Its a good idea for the real bad flooded situations

I have had one installed and it really helps. Saves alot of time in the long run to just install a FCS. Good luck with you rebuild.

you can do a simple unflood by taking the fuel pump fuse out. its near the driver side strut tower. i think its labeled egi. then just start the car with your foot floored on the gas. do it a couple of times for like 10 secs a piece. make sure your battery's good. and try startng the car. as for the oil your supposed to change it any time you flood the motor. but i guess if its not severe its up to you. i would. gas cuts oil viscosity. its like soap and grease. hope this helps.

I've tried the egi fuse trick. it seems to work most of the time but I tried it 3-4 times since it stalled last and its still wont catch at all...
I'm going to change the oil since I can now smell it on the oil stick.. better safe then sorry in the future..

anybody have an opinion on this......?
