i have never rebuilt a motor...but i believe the break in needs to consist of altering RPMS, and putting a load on then taking it off, and back and forth. All that highway driving may not be good for it...

He's right. You shouldn't keep a fresh motor at a constant rpm. Make sure you have good oil pressure and keep an eye on the temp. guage. Whatever you do don't over heat it.

to answer initial question

YES
(if u will not run into any issues, which could as well happen on 10, 40 or 150k mile motor or any car)

would it be good break in?

Its a long drive which will consist of varying rpm's for sure (usually you don`t start on highway at 3000 rpm and keep that all the way - there is always something forcing you to stop, slowdown, accelerate back to travel speed etc....)
I would consider it really good way to break in - if i would have need for making that drive.

Heating up and cooling down is what breaks the engine in. Or at least is a big part of break-in. As long as you take several breaks during the trip to let the engine cool down, it would be a good break-in opportunity

I say take it for a driver! there should be nothing wrong with that at all just make sure everything is working well before the drive just like you would do to any other car. The only thing that really matters on a rebuild is load so this will be a good opertunity to break in your motor. Have fun!
