new project couple questions

well picking up an 86 base model for 100$. now the guy is selling it because it won't pass inspection because it needs the floor patched up. he says i will need to tear the interior out which i figured I would need to anyways. My question is how hard will the interior be to get out and will any stuff need to be disconnected or moved. what problems will i run into. because this is the only thing it needs other than one back break but i plan on putting gxl breaks on it at some point before it's put on the road. and also if someone could post pics of roll cages in rx7's because i may end up making this into a track only car so i want to see how some people went about making roll cages for their fc's. all in all Im just happy to be back into a rotary soon. I hate my civic.

A cage in a street car is pointless and potentially unsafe.

If the floorboards on the car are rusting out, I'm sure there is a lot more rust damage you'll need to fix. It will probably be more worthwhile to buy a good chassis unless you're a good welder.

I'm not but I know a couple welders willing to the work for free or close to it. my girlfriend's mom's fiance did the engine swap in my civic for fun. he dosn't work anymore and just play's in his garage for fun. so the welding is not a problem. and I'm not sure as to what the laws are about the roll cage but I plan on this being mostly a track car as I used to do solo racing with my gxl. plus frame is solid. body not a spec of rust. just couple holes to be patched up. the owner of this gl has a gxl also. so he has no need for it. and why fix it when he has a better gxl in perfect shape thats the car I tried to buy but he won't sell it. but for 100$ it will at the very least make a good parts car. and if it's fixable then I can either mod it. or turn around and sell it and have some more money towards a tII

well I am in canada and i will be keeping it since I'm not even done paying it. Anyways went and checked it out today. little bit of bubbles over one wheel well, little bit of rust on the sunroof but I think I may be sealing it as it should be a track car. has a back seat, new brake and fuel lines done on the whole car. full interior but getting taken out. found lexan windows for windshield doors and hatch. also will be doing a gxl break swap. engine should be coming out and be for sale at some point. still runs strong but seemed to smoke a little bit too much could of been the cold but who knows. i have a mechanic lined up for a tII swap. he's built a 300hp na rotary for a dentist out here for him to bring to tracks so a simple swap shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Don't bother with it unless you've got ungodly amounts of free time and / or FC's are extremely rare where you live...

A better chassis with less / no rust isn't that much more money.

well i don't have that much free time. but rx7's aren't that rare out here. and like I stated it's to be a track car. the car will be stripped and the rust fixed. i heard it run and i think with a little tlc it will be perfect. it's got a recent paintjob only one spot with bubbles, so the body is great. just couple spots on the floor need to be redone. getting it as a xmas gift so I won't say no to a free rx7 at the very least i can tear it apart for parts and junk the bad stuff. but i don't think there is much bad with it.
