Whenever you buy a used engine from anywhere, be prepared to rebuild it, always. Looks like you need to rebuild it, if you can't get an exchange.

Well the gas smell in the oil is normal as far as I know. Mine has always done that .

I am currently running a JDM engine and I have run it for almost 2 years and that is even taking it to the track along with mods.

Not every JDM needs a rebuild as soon as everybody says. If you can get the engine running in that 30 day warranty then you can compression check it and see.

From my experience jdm engines do not last even especially when pushed, mine only lasted 6000 miles with stock boost,, the japs beet on these motors before they trade them in , every 30,000 miles they get new ones. Save those housings, and put some good 2 piece apex seals

I yet to find out who started this rumor I was even plagued by it when I started with cars. But it is complete Horse shix. But true most of them do seem to be beat on or worn for there mileage. Maybe they have allot of idle time.

lil' tip for finding JDM rotaries

if you can, always get your rotary with an automatic behind it... usually weren't bagged on as hard by our little inscrutable friends back east. lol.

NA tranny's are known to be weaker than turbo tranny, I believe the figure is no more than 250 whp for the NA tranny, but I'm not 100% positive
