New Interior... Pictures ! !

Well I recently bought some nice black interior pieces from a '89 GTU. I spent the better part of today tearing out my stock grey carpeting , and putting in the black. I guess to alot of you S5 guys this is nothng special..but to most of us with a S4, black is just better Anyway, it all went pretty smoothly, I did run into a few things that were different with some S5 panels, that I had to modify a bit. I had to drill some holes back in the hatch area to accept the brackets that support the cargo cover (should have that in in the next few days.) Other than that, pretty much a direct swap. Well ..here are some pics.

Also the S4 and S5 bin enclosers are slightly different. The S5 carpeting leaves about 1/2" of the corner of the fiberglass exposed on the S4 enclosures.

A pillars, dash, headliner, and pieces behind the B-pillar are staying grey. Im going to be making a custom 2-tone black/grey door panel to smooth the transition from grey to black.

I am sporting the two-tone blk/grey in the vert-

did exactly that on the doors- just carpeted the bottom of the door panels & floor in black carpet, and put black seats from a 91 gtu in- Much better that the stock grey.

I'm doing the same thing. all i need to know is if the S4 & S5 2+2 are the same. if not I'll just get some s4 redone.
the door panels are easy. these where the red ones

Rxmfn7 , I too joined your rare - but existant cult...I have 91 TII Interior In my s4. I was telling a fellow forum member the other day that the best mod up todate (besides s5 TII conversion) Is my Black Interior. I love It and It's In fantastic condition. On Tuesday, I am picking up a new Ashtray (I broke off the Hinges and filed It for my former S-AFC) and a new E-Brake Handle.

Coincidently, Aaron Cake and I were talking about my stock Black TII seats that are In MINT condition being possibly for sell just hours ago. I have Sparco Sprints In them right now and the stockers are taking up much to space right now. I went as far as to glassbeading them and painting them again...price yet to be determained.

Yea.. I never realized how much better the black looked until I saw it in person. I didnt "not" like my grey, but Im really glad I went with the black, just looks so much better.

Ok, now that we are all coming out of the closet, I went black in my S4 TII. I went with black lite weight carpet,S5 headliner visors kick panels center console stereo surround and door seal trim. A pillars dash and door panels were shot with Bull Dog and then a few healthy coats of black, then all black S5 vents and grilles were installed. Next was Corbeau blue and black seats with 4pt harness. No more tomato orange interior.

That was me prior, Blue Interior. I still have vague memories of cracked seats and worn carpet.

Those Seatbelts you have are another story. They look pretty scary. I guess we Canadians are one up on you for having Seatbelts that we can manually adjust - rather than those Iron curtain Seatbelts you guys got stuck with. Why, the differentiation Is beyond me!
