New intake?

I've been looking around for a new air intake for my completely stock 87 non-turbo, and i found many like this one on ebay. Seems good, but would it be an improvement over the stock intake? Take a look and give me your thoughts, thanks

Nope. Sorry. Please try again.

Spend the extra money and buy a K&N. It will save you lots of money down the road.

It'll sound "better". But uh no no performance gains. Like 1987RX7guy said, buy the K&N drop in filter and use the stock intake box/ducting until you can make a REAL worthwhile intake setup. You will not find any real Cold Air Intake kits anywhere. You'll have to make your own setup.

Ebay is worse than Autozone when it comes to performance parts... I have had bad luck with them.

That may soon change again. I may start production on my CAI again.

Well then PLEASE keep me in mind if you do. Because I might hafta hit you up on this. I've been contemplating on what I should do for an intake setup...might not have to think that hard after all ; )

I have used the K&N drop in on other cars. Mostly it gives a better sound and very slight power increase especially at low RPM. Is that how it is for rotary's too?

K so that one is definitely a no-go. Someone please tell me why one of these is $100 more than the other? Are either of these what you guys where mentioning earlier?

The bottom one has a better adapter to mate to the AFM. The problem is with the top one that the circle to square shape has a poor flowing ability. You need to buy a good quality one (I don't know where to get one from myself because I have an S5 and the AFM is different).

Buy the top one and then buy a 92 Prelude CAI system and custom make your own CAI. There is a write up in the archive at the top of the page. I suggest you read it and every single thread in the archive. It will make things a lot easier on you.

Do not waste money on drop-in air fliters. They make zero difference to performance compared to a new OEM filter, because it's the box that's restrictive, not the filter. Their only advantage is that they're reusable, but it takes many years before they actually pay for themselves.

I have the "ebay" filter. The only improvements i've seen is a deeper sound getting rid of about 10lbs of plastic in my engine bay. I'm looking to make a CAI.

The only true advantage of adding a cone filter, in the hot engine bay, is the radiator shroud makes a great tool tray. and yes, I have one of those stupid things too.

The butt dyno shows no increase, but the ear dyno thinks it sounds better.
