New to the forums!

Hey, my names Jason and im new the forums.

I dont have an RX-7 yet but I'm looking into a 86 GXL 5 speed. The price on it at the dealer is $4000 CDN and its in decent condition. It says it hasnt been in any accidents and there isn't any sign of it. I've read up on what to look for while buying.

The problem is, I dont know what to offer knowing that:

There is a leak somewhere from either the sunroof or the passenger window.
The driver console(?) completely moves when I use the turn signal.
The passenger side window goes up slowly and the drivers switch for that window doesnt work.
Every fluid is new for some reason?
The clutch is either a POS or isnt installed properly because it's difficult to find first gear.
There are probably other things that I have overlooked and I will get it inspected by BCAA to make sure that there isn't anything bigger than that.

I was thinking $2500CDN for fun and see if he goes for it.

I look forward to interacting with everybody on this forum.

Thanks,
Jason

my 87 base was in decent shape, aside for ageing paint and faded interior, and it was only 1000 and a 91 celica with a blown engine and 190k miles on it

That is rather expensive, even if it is in Canada money. There are better deals out there.

Yeah, read up on the forums some about buying an rx7. Go to Aaron Cakes website www.aaroncake.net I believe and he has a good write up. You should be able to find a nice non turbo for around 1500. Good luck and welcome.

Prices are higher in Canada, so that price isn't actually completely out of the ballpark. I paid $1900 for my '87 turbo with the pretence that it had a blown motor & that was considered a good price. $2000 would be close to the fair market value for your vehicle, but still not a steal. My suggestion would be to join a local RX-7 club first if possible, then you can get a pretty good idea of what you should be paying. Auto Trader & Buysell are good sites to check around in. If your not in the aircare area it might be an idea to get your car from Alberta, prices seem to be a little more competetive here.
