I wanna know if there are any mods I can do that provide noticable diff. Wather it be in HP, Responce, whatever. Like insied my air intake there is this metal "flaper thing....is it needed?

The "metal flapper thing" is the airflow meter. Yes you do need it.

Thing that will increase performance and make a difference. ummm a turbo? deedeedee lol. Just Kidding man.

If you buy a full intake and exhaust set up it'll sound better and you'll notice a difference. For the people (like the ricers in Lubbock) putting a aftermarket air filter in the hole that air flows through to the MAF sensor does not increase performance because the sensor still blocks air flow. You need the adapter that comes in the full intake kits.

i guess u can go with the TID mod. its pretty much, custom intake pipe and aftermarket filter. it forces more(hot) air in ur engine to increase psi. however, if ur gonna do this mod, make a cold air intake box asap.

1. Cold air box around the intake. Block out air from under the hood, let in air from outside. 6-7HP. You can make it out of sheet metal if you like, just make sure you seal the edges well. Heat wrap entirely optional (a good air seal is far more important).

2. Synthetic oils in tranny and differential. Since you do it once per 30,000-60,000 miles, you'll get your money back (or more) from the slight mpg increase. And 1-2HP. I'd go Royal Purple to get the most out of it.

3. Used convertable wheels, or from a junkyard (?). The 10lbs. of rotational mass will be the same as gaining 1HP, not to mention the handling improvement.

4. Wait until stuff breaks to upgrade it. Bad emissions? Performance cat. Old shocks & bushings? Performance shocks, new bushings. Bald tires? Get Potenzas or race tires. Blown engine?...

5. Weight reduction. 20 lbs. = 1 HP. 175lbs = 1mpg city. Also decreases braking distance. Depends how much you like your luxuries, or how easily you can find an aluminum hood. The easiest way is to clean out the junk you have in back.

1-2 hp from royal purple in the tranny????????
1HP from rims?????????????????????
1HP for every 20 lbs???????????????????

BWAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

OMG thanks for the laugh............please tell me where you get this information about the HP increase on things that have nothing to do with power???????

plese, read some more before you advice anyone else........I'm definitely staying away from you and your engine cae tips.........

Meh, search then. Or take physics. Lookup, F=ma. W=Fd. P=W/t. So: a = F/m = W/dm = Pt/dm = P/vm. a = P/vm. acceleration = power / (velocity * mass) so decreasing mass by x% <--> increasing power by x%. Or use common sense: Lighter cars go faster. Cars with less friction go faster. Not that I think you'll actually do this, mind you, but others who care about little things like fact-checking may want to know.

lol eric, Lets say the engine has 140 hp. You gut the interior and it still is gonna have 140 hp. It will be faster because the car is lighter but it will still only have 140 hp.

and to the original poster Buy a zeal megasquirt kit. It will completely get rid of the maf(big metal flapper) in your car. And it is a plug and play item. Go to the standalone section>megasquirt ecu and do some reading before you post.

Good point rotorman. Hopefully thread starter will use them.

Dropping 20lbs. will give the same increase in acceleration as gaining 1HP. Mass at the wheel rims counts double; it has twice the inertia thanks to rotation.

hahahaha.........i love it when people try to use mathematical equations to prove they're not dumb........you said it yourself cars with less mass or friction go faster........it does not mean you GAIN any HP!.... I'll look into the physics class but not at your college.......

im sure one of those links includes a standalone mod, but a stand alone computer is a good way to get rid of that mass air flow, and the air pump on an S5 motor. little bt of weight dropped there just for some pointers. dbgeek has it done so that someone you can contact for any info on building a nasty raceworthy NA car.
