Lightbulb New Engine...?

I just got an 88 SE and it has 151k and is a non-turbo. I haven't been driving it for more then a month but I want to upgrade to a twin turbo. I've been searching websites for an engine but i don't know what's a good price. Anyone know where I could get one without wasting too much money...?

that sound right? And if it is, what about my trans, drive shaft, and axles? Will they stay attached to the car?

My insane idea.....

I am building a car to test engines in.

I am attempting to design an engine that is supercharged, and also uses either water or propane injection to cool and juice up the air charge.

I know that these addons will have to be metered in thier use, and i havent worked out the specifics of how and when to activate these addons, but my main goal is to have a QUIET daily driver car that is secretly a very FAST car 0-60.

Its the most insane i have thought that I could actually afford so far.

The whoel 20B and 13BTT thing is another step I'll be researching for at least a year more.

And the 20B would ONLY go into a 3rd gen car.

Preferably a late model 1995.

Well, take our word for it...it can be done, but its not worth the hassle. ITs hard enough to make a 13bT from an 87-91 fit in a nonturbo, and those were made to fit 2nd gens...differences in drivetrain and electronics. The 3rd gen operating system, drivetrain, and motor mounts are totally different.

Sure, that 13b-rew engine produces more power in stock form, but the 13bt is just as capable as teh 13brew when modified. Twin turbo is a big word to most people, but it doesnt mean more power, it jsut means a wider powerband(one turbo for low end, one for top end). Most semi seious 3rd gen guys go single turbo anyway, just like the 13bt has already. Basically a 13bt is cheaper to find, bolts right in, and can be made to run like a 13brew for the same cost.

We're not trying to rain on your parade, just a bit of helpful advice.

you will need to use two s5 turbo manifolds and two s5 turbos.

Dude I thought the same thing when I built my car... Then when I priced out everything saw the custom manifold work, sawing in to the firewall to get it to fit and having to purchase a stand alone fuel management system, I pulled my head out from between my butt cheeks and lived happily ever after. Single turbo set ups are actually nice and reliable. The rx7 is already a beautifully upgradable platform for the mild budget racer. I know it's coold to tell people you have twin turbos and that reduces turbo lag but the stocks on 7's spool quickly and with proper waste gate/BOV management you can eliminate most lag while embarrassing every fat Camaro stupid enough to race you.

Heed the warning or spend 13k+ and fabricate the **** out of your car either way much rotary love and all the luck I can wish you.
