I found out i will need a new split pipe and muffler for my 88 rx7 gxl. how much should this cost and would it be alright just to get it done at a generic muffler place instead of the dealer? i'm going to ohio this weekend so i need to figure something out. thanks.

 

Well whatever you do, don't buy it from the dealer!!!

a good muffler shop should be able to do it..

A bad muffler shop should be able to do it..

It really depends on how much you like your car..


A good shop will charge ~$500-600, but they will use good SS packed mufflers & SS tubing that is mandrel bent.. this will last ~10 years..

a bad shop will charge ~$300, use midas mufflers and aluminized pipes.. this will die in about 1 year..
