Need Turbo Size Advice

Hey all, I am going to be putting a tubo motor in my car at some point, and I will be putting an aftermarket turbo. I want to build up this car for autox, canyon driving and road racing. I am only shooting for 250hp and maybe 300 later on, but I want the turbo response to be almost instant. I also want to turbo to have enough flow for a 7000-8000 redline(probably 7000).
And now to the question I am looking at a gt22 turbo and here are the specs are here

So what do you guys think.

I've seen 265 rwhp out of the stocker. You won't get but a couple more ponies out of that.

Yeah but since this is a smaller turbo won't this turbo spool up a lot faster?

yeah man you can get 250whp out of the stock turbo easy. if you wanted to keep good power and have some room to bump it up a little bit, just get a BNR t04 hybrid (stock hotside and t04 compressor)

the hotside of these stock turbos is surprisingly large for a stock turbo so its good for some decent power with a bigger compressor.

maybe a bit but you'll lose boost around 4-5000rpm and probably barly make 200hp

plus that will cost you "alot" of money. you'd have to custom make a manifold since nobody would sell one for that.

I got 300 RWHP running 14PSI on a Series 4 High Flow stock everything else.
I know a mate who also got 290 RWHP runnin 20pounds of boost on a stock series 4 turbo. He has now gone through 3 turbos.
These turbos get really bad above 17 psi.

OK I guess I should just stick with a stock turbo, but I really want lag/response to be instant, will the stocker do this?
And does anyone have the stock Compressor and Turbine Trim and A/R,

The engine porting and size of turbo back exhaust affect spool up (and wastegate creep) TREMENDOUSLY.

You have to decide these things before you go choosing a turbo if spool up is an important factor to you.

Also pick up the full TII drivetrain, instant spool equals instant torque equals destroyed NA drivetrain.

Kewl Blue TII, I think I will keep the ports stock, with full 3 inch exhaust all the way back, and the turbo and manifold will be coated with HiPercoat Extreme.
I will also be picking up a TII parts car when I do this, so that I will have the bigger sway bars, brakes, drivetrain and what not.

i am making 260 rwhp on 9 psi with a hiflowed S4 turbo, and will be bumped up to about 310 when i crank it to about 15-17psi.

As far as turbos go......if you can't fit your head in the intake, don't buy it!

What exactly is a highflowed S4 turbo, is that one of the hyrbrid kits from BNR, or is that just porting the wastegate and other such things.

Yeah, I also want to know what size turbo everyone suggests for my TII. It has HUGE ports, and I can build an exhaust manifold, so any turbo would be great for me, I just want something that will give me about 15 PSI with out putting any strain on the turbo. I was thinking either a TO4, or a 60-1 turbo. Would that be about right.

I have a s5 turbo with a ported WG and it develops boost quite quickly. On the highway while crusing i hit 1 psi of boost with a light press of the accelerator. Our stock turbos are small, they seem to boost very easily. And also for the power your looking for id say stick with a stock turbo. There cheaper and a lot easier to work with and install.
Also consider the exaust setup your going with because this will determain just how fast the turbo spools also.

Just to let let you guys know, I might have a hybrid s4 turbo up for grabs. It has ported wastegate, runners, knife-edged compressor housing, with the upgraded compressor wheel. Upgrade was done by turbonetics ~15k ago, porting by me of course PM me if interested.

Yes stock housing, I dunno what trim wheel it is as I bought it used, but I have not used it yet. The original owner was Carl Byck or In2twins on the forum. He gave me dyno #'s using it though. I remember it made 275whp.
