Need tips for improving 0-60mph!

When I had my 87 turbo on my 87 TII, I could launch the car at 6000rpm and it took off with just a slight wheel spin. But ever since I got a 90 turbo setup, if I launch higher then 4000rpm, it just sits there and goes sideways. So I have to launch at 3000-3500rpm now, but it kinda bogs a bit and makes me get crappy 0-60mph. Is it because I got MORE LOW END TORQUE now? I FEEL the 90 turbo spools up sooner and pulls harder low-midrange. Where do you guys with 87-88 TII launch at? And how about you people with 89-92 TIIs?

I would like to know what everyone lauches at too, n/a and turboII. I launch at 3500, its doens't bog and i get wheelspin all the way throgh first gear and going into 2nd. But i don't stay there spinning. I have tested it agains't a lot of cars w/ autos so i know it works 10000x better than just no burning of clutch. BUT i used to be able just to do the foot work NO REVVING and my 0-60 was 1 sec faster than revving. And if i gave it full throttle me wheels would not stop spining w/o revving. So the best way really is to work on your foot work, but for those who like to have the same launch everytime i guess its better to revv, its easy to mess up your foot work and get burned

did you lower your car at the same time?.... you will have less traction with your susp. setup then stock.

you are probably in desperate need of an adj. rear camber link too since you lowered so much.

i know my car was lowered, but dont know by how much. i used to launch at 3500, and it would be golden. but then i started gettin wheel hop so i started to launch at 3100. i got no tire hop, no wheel spin, i just took off. but then i started gettin wheel hop. so now im down to about 2800-2900 launchin. and i dont just dump the clutch. when the light turns green, i let off sorta easy until i feel the clutch grip, then i dump it and floor it. i get no wheel hop, and minimal (if any) tire spin. works like a charm.

i have been launching at 5500rpm and getting 2.0 60ft times, with shitty *** tires and pedaling all of 1st gear and some of 2nd gear. i wish i had some slicks.

A few basic things that can help any car accelerate faster. Numerically higher rear gear ratio. Stock TurboII has a 4.10 but I believe there is a 4.30 available. I'm eventually going to end up with a 4.875 rear gear set but it will require some splicing together of pinion shafts but it will be cheaper than a rebuilt ported engine. Better tires are always a positive and also help with your cars braking ability also. And last but not least is weight reduction. All that cool stereo equipment slows you down.

for me it all depends on what pavement i am on and what the temperature of the pavemnet is. also i have **** h rated passenger car tires that dont have hardly any traction( soo nto be taken care of hopefully by 17's) anyway i can take mine to about 4-5k depending and drop it and it will get a few barks and take off.

I noticed I'm getting a LOT MORE wheel hop when I launch now, does that mean something is going bad? I never got much wheel hop before, not even when launching at 6000rpm with the old turbo.

My car height is about the same as before, actually I got new shocks and stiffer springs now.

I also have this problem of spinning out throughout the ENTIRE 1st gear, it just spins, no traction. Could I slip the clutch through 1st gear?...I won't smoke or damage the cluth right?

i launch my n/a at 2500 but thats on shitty pavement, they are repaving the entire town here now so its gonna be fun to see what i can launch at now, usually ill just rev up to 4k and let out on the clutch till it grips like he said and then floor it and go, but i get a great run with a 2500rpm dump, and if i shift above 6k i get good wheel hop in 2nd, damn 5.12's lol

On the slicks I lauched at 5500. should have launched at 6500 next time I will

on street tire A032R If racing I luach around 4000 and get a little wheel spin until they get some temp in them.
