Need some input/info/ect.

Does cutting the belt of the air pump on my FC improve horsepower/ torque sligtly, or should I just leave it alone?

on an s5 n/a, you'll disable you're aux ports... meaning a LOSS of about 20 horse power. Leave it alone unless you're not needing to meet emission laws and don't want to deal with reworking the aux ports.

S5 TII, however don't have aux ports, I think the pump could be removed and the only downside is your cats will clog in a couple months (and you won't meet emmision laws).

I saw just leave it on unless you plan to do some extensive modding...

Edit: and before you say "parasistic loss", you're talking about 1hp loss/gain (max really). Compared to the 20 that you're losing be disabling the 6 ports (on an s5 n/a).

S4 N/as, S4 TII, and S4 TIIs won't have this same issue. They will however still get clogged cats and fail emissions.

There is no good reason to remove the air pump from S5 NA's (unless you're replacing the entire intake system). IMO rigging up another method of operating the 6PI and VDI systems is just too much work for basically zero gain.

Also, I have heard that if you remove your air pump belt it will cause slipping of the water pump. That is why people that run without an air pump need the double alternator belt pulley.

if your car is the 90 GXL mentioned in your signature, then it comes with a 6 port non turbo 13B engine.

And if its a four port, you're asking a strange question.

Hmm, I only count 4 intake runners from the manifold!?! Is this normal epuipment on a six port? It would surprise the hell out of me to find out that it is indeed a six porter.

All FC NA engines are 6-port. Just trust us on that one.

You can't see the additional ports from the outside. The secondary intake runners (the outer ones) split into two inside the manifold.

meh, imagine this being the side of the manifold facing the engine

see the difference between an 6port and 4port?

4 ports are generaly turbos only

these are adaptors so the actual manifold ports would look a bit different, and the manfiold looks completely different, lol

WTF? It takes about 2 minutes. I honestly think its harder to change plugs than to replace a belt.

Unless it's the belt closest to the block...

You bought an rx-7 without a fully-stocked master mechanic's tool box? Shame on you...
