need some help with setting my boost controller

i have a 88 tii with a bnr stage 2 turbo and a greddy profec 2 b and having trouble setting the boost. I read the manual, but i don't quite understand. Is the "set gain" the start boost? and the gain controllers the boost consistancy, but not sure what percent to put it at, and if i just turn the **** without pressing anything, is that for the actual boost amount. I'm just very confused and stupid i guess. i'm trying to set it to 10psi on low and 13.5 on high, but can't getting the settings right for it, and it lags a lot. Please can someone help, i read the manual(i can't figure it out) and search on it here, but no answers. Thanks!

I read that manual like 10 times, confusing myself.

What I ended up doing was setting the high setting lower and testing the car with someone in it playing with the controller.
You will get the hang of it and not be playing at your high setting, when you get the hang of it start raising the values.

When you turn the **** it will not set unless you push the **** in.

Then after finally figuring it all out I removed it because I was upgrading the computer, but once I got the hang of the controller it allows for great adjustments, people just get frustrated with it and give up. Only way for how it works to sink in is to drive the car and play with it.

Do yourself a favor and either have someone else make the adjustments while you are driving or vice versa.... you'll be boosting and looking down and between the controller and boost gauge, but not the road -----> bad idea.

I have a road down to the beach, its pretty much deserted and there are some nice stretches of 2-3 lane highway with no on-ramps.

I dont have the directions here, but once you start messing with it becomes more clear, the more I read the manual the more it got the best of me. When I started conservative and playing with the adjustments thats when it became clear to me.

I believe if you look at the display there will be a start boost setting, it goes by percentages so set your high boost setting first, set that lower, lets say 9lbs so your safe. Then you set the start boost as a percentage, I wish I had the directions here or it was still in my car because I could have given you my settings and you could have adjusted them from there and got a idea of the percentages.

OK first off it is a confusing SOB! Set, by just turning the **** will adjust where you want peak boost. So turn the "set" **** and it will start raising boost. Do some good fourth gear pulls to see where it is settling at. Adjust it in small increments until you get to where you want your boost to be. Gain is for adjusting how fast your boost comes on. You want to adjust that up until you get a boost spike then turn it back down a few %. "Set Gain" is when you want the controller to start doing what you set. So if "set gain" is set really high then the wastegate will stay closed until ~what set gain is at. So 10=10psi start. You will have to play around with the Gain and Set Gain (start boost) after you get your desired boost pressure to get it just right. Also your boost will be lower in lower gears and this isn't avoidable unless you set boost for gears 1-2 and boost for 3-4-5. It pisses me off that I cannot get full boost until 3rd gear! Anyway I hope this helps.

1sweet7 has it correct.
don't make too many adjustments at once. start with the "set" ****. adjust that until you get the amount you want. then move onto "gain",that adjusts the sensitivity. "set gain" is when it starts to open the wastegate. these settings get confusing because they affect final boost pressure slightly. make sure you set the overboost setting so you don't damage anything.
don't feel bad, i think everyone was confused using this boost controller at first.

using the terminology from the Spec 2 manual:

"Set" is a percent value.
"Gain" is a percent value.
"Start boost" aka both "SET" and "GAIN" lit at the same time, is an actual pressure value in psi or kPA

I believe 10 to be 10 percent, it is not 10psi. That is where you will get confused.

also, for the start boost, that for the adjustment of the spool right? So if i want it to spool quicker it needs to be lower or higher numbers?
