need some help please!!

i got my car back from the shop a few weeks ago and its driving great. all day im driving the car with no problems, then i decide to take a sharp turn, and the (positive side) battery slid and hit one of the pulleys and grounded out. some cables under the hood caught on fire it looks like a harness that connects to the charcoal canister. when this type of accident occurs, what are all the damages that could have been possibe? i would take it to my mechanic, but he went out of town. any replies would be appreciated. thanks

yes the car still runs but since it grounded out and cause a fire burning a wire harness that seems as if it goes connected to the charcoal canister, it wont. also the brakes are locked up to. i dont know if this problem came from the first one.

I would like to help you but I am having a hard time understanding what you are saying.

you say it still runs but.......it wont, does it run or not?

replace any burned up wires, check fuses and run it.

the car is not running. but even though the battery grounded out, could it have done any damages to the ecu, electronics, etc.? and also, what would have caused the breaks to lock up?

Chances are it DID fry the harness's, ecu, and if you have ABS, fried that computer too.

There is no electrical that connects to the charcoal canister.
In that general area you have cruise control, wipers and ABS (if installed).

How did your battery manage to move far enough to hit a pulley (I assume PS or AC)- was it not tied down at all?

your best bet is to source a new wiring harness from the same year car as yours and replace, its a pain in the *** job but if it has to be done it just has to be done.
When your battery did that you prob fried your ecu too, luckily they are everywhere and cheap.
Next time use a battery hold down
