Need some advise on service cost!

i took my s4 to a shop today to get my tranny mounts, diff mounts at the back (big circular mounts) and the large block mount in the front of the diff replaced. i supplied all the parts for the job. i called them this afternoon to find out how much this work should cost and they said it's going to be about 900 something! does this sound accurate to you guys? i was shocked, that price sounds like its an all day job. please let me know what you think!

I should start working at these places as they make a crap load of money, of course if anyone actually let them.

You didnt find out what it would cost BEFORE you gave them your car!?!

That's not too intelligent.

And indeed...it sounds like they are about to bend you over...if you know what I mean.

i would seek local help (surely someone around has some automotive experience) and provide beer and food for the day to them , so they can help you ...

plus that way you get to learn ...

and at most you'll spend 50 bucks on beer and food

AND DONT YOU DARE SUBSTITUTE BEER FOR SODA!!

it could possibly cost that much

the tranny mount takes 5 minutes

but the differential mounts may involve dropping a large portion of your rear suspension

yea thats the feeling i've been getting...my dads been taking his car to this shop for a while now, the head mechanic is awesome he checked out my car to figure out what the problem was (these mounts) for free. they've got some tool working the front desk, i'm think thats part of the problem, but i mean how can this been 900 something...its not a complicated job, its just sucks to do without a lift!

so there really should be no reason for this job to cost 900? i would love to be able to put 900 into this car right now, but not in labor costs!

Yea ive been down the road of going to service shops. Couldn't turn down free brake inspections, but i was eyeballing them the whole time to make sure they didn't mess with anything they never saw before.
