Unhappy Need some advice...

Heres my situation:

I have an '87 GXL (picture in sig) with coolant seals that are barely starting to go. Car has 107k miles on it and the mods are: RB header + presilencer, HKS exhaust, lightened flywheel, TB mod, intake, and e-fan.

Since the engine is going to die pretty soon, I ran into a deal I couldnt resist. I bought a crashed '88 turboII. Originally I was going to convert the GXL into a TII but now my friend is thinking about sellng his 88 TII with no engine for dirt cheap. Hes not sure if he wants to sell it yet but hes leaning more towards selling it.

Should I buy his TII and drop my TII engine into it or should I continue with my GXL conversion? If I get the TII, I would have to get rid of my GXL and I dont know how much I can get for it the way it is. I can probably pick up a junkyard engine and sell it for more. I need help!!!!

Sorry for the long post but I dont know what to do.

Buy the other TII, Drop in all the needed bits from the wrecked TII. When it is running to your expectations : sell the GXL so you have some money for other mods.

yeah, the conversion will be more costly in the long run. better to use a car already made for the turbo engine, especially since the transmission alone on the gxl would need to be swapped if you planned on doing any mods at all to it.

The TurboII is in better shape. Thanks for the comments. I'm going to talk to my friend tomorrow and see what he decided to do.

Should I sell the n/a the way it is with the messed up engine or should I get an engine from the junkyard, install it and try to sell the car for more? Or part out the n/a?

Get the TII, fix it up, keep em both, then you can fit in the NA threads and the turbo threads!

I wish I could keep both but I have no space at home for another car. Getting stuck with the n/a is what has me a bit worried

If you run into an engine that is"dirt cheap" like you did with the TII, install that engine in the GXL. If not, just try and sell it as is. Can't see putting a lot of money in the n/a if it's not in good shape. You'll never get it out of the car.
Going with the TII is a wise decision.
