Need Serous help car is pissing me off

Got a 86 RX7 just got it all put together and it idles great throttle is crisp and clean through the whole RPM range UNLESS you Go wide open, then it Studders and acts like its going to die till the rpms drop to about 4k then it kicks in for a sec then drops again.
Now I dont understand how the fuel delivery system is designed. what takes over after the TPS is no longer in contact with the actual throttle lever that actuates it?
For what I am seeing the throttle lever and the TPS are only in contact with one another for just about half travle then from the half way point to full open the TPS is maxed......

What can I check and what can I do????

check your TPS for bad spots.... hook a multimeter up to it (needle type) and press it in and out... the needle should move evenly.. if it jumps or breaks then you have a faulty tps... however they sypmtoms you describe seems like your secondary fuel injectors are not funcioning right... make sure they are plugged in, not clogged, or even working

nope TPS is smooth as a babys butt all the way through its action, Injectors are working fine. I can bring the RPMs all the way to redline without a problem UNTILL the throttle gets to the point where the action of the TPS has reached its max limmit and the throttle lever leaves the TPS.

Any other ideas out there?

You need to pull the codes if it's S4. There are several writeups on how to do this, try a search...

Any throttle over maybe 1/3 will be a WOT signal to the TPS, and you should be hitting this way before 4K rpm. You're talking secondary injectors and 5th/6th ports at this point, although you can't rule out the TPS at this time. If you know how to use a meter, try reading your TPS, boost sensor, AFM, and secondary injectors out from the ECU, you should see something weird going on with at least one of the above..

well I followed that link found some good information, and discovered that I was getting a error code from the TPS, I replaced it twice and still had the same problem, then I did a little digging around On here and found the "how To" section to ajust the TPS got it ajust to where it said it should be. now i dont get the error code anymore...yay thought I was good to go. WRONGE that POS just floods out and wont start AT ALL now.
Buddy of Mine suggested useing 1st gen plugs since they are harder to foul out.
I tried all the little tricks I have heard to try , like unpluging the fuse for the fuel pump in the engine bay, but that kills the ignition too, allso tried unpluging the plug for the pump itself still nothing, Just tries to kick once in a while then back to nothing.
pulled the spark plugs out they are totaly soaked with gas, Dried them off, cleaned them up, spun the engine over a few times with the plugs out and fuel pump unpluged.
hooked everything back up put the plugs back in and not a damn thing, same as befor.
Got good strong spark throws a good2 inch arch nice pretty blue and the timeing is dead on. So it has to be flooding like made for some reason.

Any ideas or sugestions other than rolling it off a cliff in a huge ball of fire like I have been thinking about doing?

Lol, if we all threw our cars over the cliff when they kicked our asses, the rx-7 would be a rarity, indeed...

Have you checked your compression yet? I have a feeling at least rotor is not going to be up to par...

Well I have not put a gage on it, But when I was spinning it over with the plugs out all the commpression noises sounded the same. Not to mention the thing was running befor, it was starting great, just not running worth a crap.

Have you done anything like put another fuel pump in, or gone to different injectors, or messed with the rat's nest, FPR, etc...?

the only thing that has been done since the car went from running like crap to not running at all, is changed out and ajusted the TPS. I am on my way outside right now to go put the original one back on the damn thing turn the ajustment screw back down to where the ECU was in safe mode and see if it starts good like it used to/

Don't forget to take a good look at the TPS plug & harness plug terminals, also- they tend to get corroded to hell, and might be causing your problems...

yep did that, well that did'nt work the damn thing just wont start now. I'm starting to wonder if my ecu just did'nt take a dump on me. or even if its the correct ecu that came with the car. is there anywhere I can check or does anyone know what the modle number of the ecu in a 86 FC GLS is suppose to be?
this car has gone through a couple of diffrent people that claimed to know what they are doing when it comes to RX7s so I'm wondering.

OK, the plugs worked, The damn thing starts again. Now I reajusted the TPS back to where it is suppose to be and held my breath, Still starts. BUT its still doing the same crap that I started off about. So I am guessing my next step is to go through and messure all the voltages comeing out of the ECU, Arg what a pain in the *** this project is turning out to be...

" My friend tells me, get a RX7 and keep it rotory it'll be fun watch you'll see"
Think I may have to kick his *** over this one... heh

So aside from the pain staking hours I'm going to spend messuring voltages any other Helpfull hints or tips that might help keep me from developing terets syndrome?
