Need To Raise Idle....

I've seen a lot of stuff about lowering idles and such, but mine drops really low and bounces up and down until I give it just a little tiny bit more gas and I can idle it manually where it should be idling. Its a real pain in the *** to have to sort of do the whole double clutch thing with the brake and gas pedal whenever I come to a stop and put it in nuetral. I've heard about adjusting a few things, but not exactly how. Could anyone explain it in very easy to understand terms?

F1 16 of Factory Service Manual if you have it for nonturbo.

F2 16 of it for the turbo. If you don't have it let me know.

That's only the idle adjustment though. I'm thinking your problem sounds more like a vacuum leak though. Just my 2 cents.

there's the one on the top of the intake manifold (S5) near throttle body and one behind the throttle body you're not supposed to touch. (the "$400 screw")

Well I just put a new intake on, and that seems to be whats doing it, and the tubing that goes to the turbo is loose, and I can't get in there to tighten it up, it seems pretty secure once its pushed in though. Could that be the problem?

After the AFM. From the post in my other thread I thought it might have been that. I checked it all out and it was level and secure.

if its "insecure" after the AFM; is it seeping air?
you said "it seems pretty secure once its pushed in though." have you tried while its running? or could you reword that? if when its secured it fixes your idle, then it'd be a definate. i cant tell exactly how you mean this.

Well the problem when I couldn't start my car before was because it was fully out. We pushed it back in, and it ran fine for a bit, then the idle started being low. Its like impossible to get to the screw to tighten the thing in, but i'll be trying that tomorrow once it gets lighter out again and I can try and get in there.

you said your RPMs are bouncing up and down.. personally that sounds like an air leak to me.. i just had my afm barely tightened down and one side a little bit out and my car was idling like that.. RPM up and down. if you have a TII the idle adjustment is on the bac valve.. or you can tighten the throttle cable if you dont have a bac valve.. but remember to adjust your TPS if you do that.
