Need A Little Help...headlight Issues..

Well anywayz guys my passenger side headlight only comes up partways and it stays there. The driver side comes up normal and both headlights still come on and low and high beams still work. Does anyone know whats goin on...I checked the 30amp headlight fuses and there ok. If you try to manually screw the headlight up it is so tight u cant screw it up...and if u screw it bck down then it will go back down and then pop bck up by itself. If anyone can help me out if would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

The motor itself may be on its way to teh boneyeard my friend, and yes its supposed to come back up when its turned past the bottom point. I would try to turn teh light motor back to the up position going the same way you went when takign it to the down position, see if that helps, if not id go to the nearest junkyard/forum member/ or parts car of a buddy and score a motor and enjoy the knuckle busting goodness.

You also must pull the headlight motor fuse when you manually crank the headlight, sorry for forgetting that info. >.<

No prob, Ive got one dead motor on my 89 gxl, and had a dead motor on the 88 SE, opposite motors mind you and each one seems to be an intriuging version of "how to bust a knuckle in 8 ways"

You really need to look hard and find the BINDING in the retractor mechanism that's causing the light assy to not come up all the way.

Try leaving your hood up and try the headlights up/down and see if that does not help.

Or get down to the nitty gritty and take a look at the linkage to see if it's binding. Maybe take the retractor fuse out and manually adjust the light and when it starts binding start looking to see WHAT is binding. Leave the hood up while you do that and remove the side fairings on the headlight assy so you can see what is happening with the linkage.
