I think one (or two) of your thrust/ needle bearings fell out of place when you pulled that pulley bolt. Mazdatrix has a big writeup about this & how to fix it. DON'T run the engine till you fix it...

well when i pulled the pulley Ihad the clutch pressed down all the way like mazdatrix said. Soooo i dunno. I was looking at a picture on mazdatrix and it looks like the driver gear, oil pump gear, couterweight, and all that is aligned with this "pin" so with that out. i think everything especially the couterwieght has fallen out of alignment.

Anyone think the same?

I can't think of anything other than pulling that front cover off to make sure everything's as it should be...Good luck...

good luck is right... lol. from what i see. I have to support the engine some how and take off the passenger lower control arm? since it looks like it bolts right to the oil pan.

and much more.. ARG. this is my worst fear and it came true.

Counterweight done rotated and got in the way. How far it rotated is anybodys guess. I don't think its the spacer or the torrington bearings because the key is sticking out too far out for that. Off with the front cover and let us know which it was that caused the obstruction.

You should not have to remove the oil pan. I did once til I found out that the front cover WILL come off without taking the pan off. Give it a try.

Alright. well if i dont have to take the oil pan off that will help. Ill try it out. The next 50-60 degree day we have here in winter. lol

Ya i was thinking about the counter weight... but I didnt hear anything move in the engine so i didnt think that woul dbe it. but at the same time. the counterweight is at some weird angle in there and is help with that pin..

Ill let you all know. Ill take pics of the inside to just because.

You still have to remove the front row of bolts that hold the front of the pan to the front cover......but don't have to remove any more. Just want to make that clear.

Yup, I knew that. thanks tho. Ill try it out.

in the FSM it says there is a oil type "valve" or sumtin to take out? it looks like it in the bottom of the front cover or sumtin. know anything about it?
