Need Help Sort Of Fast!

Okay, here's the deal, my RX-7 has had an idle problem, where it doesn't stay on if you don't rev it in the begginig, rough and all, so anyway, I'm driving down, it's running smooth and strong, so I stop in front of my gate to come in, okay, the car idles a little low when I come to a stop, nothing new or out of the ordinary, okay, now the car stalls, also nothing surprising, it does it sometimes, so I go to start it up again... it doesn't start, I mean, it just keeps trying to start, I hear it trying to start, but it just doesn't, I'm like okay, I'll wait, maybe the engine needs to cool down, I wait 4-5 minutes, it sounds stronger and almost about to start, but doesn't, I need to know what's going on, please don't tell the car died.

Oh and a little side note, I was washing the car for about 30-45, but I left the hatch open, so the hatch light was on the whole time I was washing the car, but it started fine and also I sort of added another pint of oil to the car because it was low. PLEASE HELP, the car is sitting out in the apartment complex, I NEED HELP SORT OF FAST PLEASE!!

you flooded it. search on how to fix or just be lazy and pull start it. low idle has always been a problem on n/a fc's for me though. usually vacuum issues or low compression motor.

Well, I waited like 10 more minutes and at least started up and got me to my parking space, thank God. How did I flood it and how can I prevent this from happened again? I almost had a heart attack there.

damn that sucks, does it idle fine? at what rpm...? might be fuel delivery, the engine might be starving for fuel....did you check the fuel filter and such? or steve might be right, the engine might be putting too much fuel in there and its flooding itself witch would suck....try pulling the efi fuse and crank it a couple times that way it burns the fuel up in side the chamber then put the fuse back and try starting it, see if that helps....if your engine is flooding itself then it might be your injectors not closing all the way, and there letting fuel get by...that could be another one....or your hot start, i understand about that one cause mine has a hard time starting after its ran for awhile....lame as hell but i get it to start....try those things....sorry this is so long but you wanted some kind of help...lol

i dont think washing your car would have done anything to it....im sure that even the littlest sprinkles wouldent hurt the engine....ive seen some outrageus stuff done to engine bay and the engine was still fine....

No man, not too long at all, really appreciate the help, well, I just went to go start the car and I got it running, I just drove it to my praking spot which is about 300 feet from where it was. But the thing it, it was still idling a little low, it seemed the more I let the car sit, the more it was getting back to normal.

Now I just want to know what precations I can take so it doesn't happen again?

adjust your tps its prolly off and that might be why its not idling right...do you have the haynes manuel on the car? it should show you how to do it....if not go to the nearest auto zone or whatever and get one its really helpful....

as far as preventing the engine from flooding try this i dont know if it will work for you but for me its all in my head....what i do before i shut my rotarys off is take the rpms to about 2g and hold it there then shut the car off, that way the engine burns the rest of the fuel off thats left in there....witch in case gives you a fresh start the next time you go to start it...it seems to work for me....but you never know....hope i helped a little...

Thanks man, you helped a lot. And yeah, I got the Haynes Manual, my car is back to norma (thank God), except for the normal idle problem (Haha, a normal problem!). But yeah, I'll check out the TPS.

Oh how hard would it be to adjust the TPS and what type of tools do you think I need?
