Need help S5 rebuild

I have a S5 with a streeport that was running before we tore it down. We had to replace oil seals because of oil consumption and excessive smoking. We have the engine back together, in the car and trying to get it to start. However, all we get is the spinover, no start and it seems like it's flooding. I have taken the CAS out several times, restabbed it and it seems to be ok according to everything I've read and done in the past. I've rebuilt several of these, but always seems to have some kind of issue. The engine is Street ported, we are reusing the housings and the apex seals, just pretty much did a reseal to the keg. Is there something that I'm missing as far as setting the CAS on a streeport or is it just like a stock port engine? Also, it does have a racing beat crank pulley on it, so if I read correctly on that it should be set on the second mark from the left. Any ideas would be great. Thanks for any help in advance.

Have you checked to see if you're getting spark? You probably have compression. You've re-stabbed the CAS so you probably have timing. If you're flooding, you have fuel. Seems like spark is the next likely culprit.

If the CAS is stabbed as per the FSM, it should be close enough to start. The final adjustment has to be done while idling but setting it statically should be good enough to start and idle the car.

We do have spark. We've checked it at the plugs, at it's a good strong spark as well.

And just to be clear, are you sure it's flooding? Do you smell fuel, or is it just acting as if it is flooded? If you have starting fluid try using it. If it starts on fluid but won't idle, you have a fuel issue.

Otherwise a compression test is probably a good idea. Just in case.

i'm lazy, i've noticed that you can kind of diagnose these things from the drivers seat. when it cranks do you hear pulses? it should be going dup dup dup dup dup dup dup dup. the compression makes that noise. test #2, is if the CAS is working, and you get power to the ECU, an FC will generally want to flood, so you should be smelling unburned gas.

if you do smell gas, its flooded, reach under the dash and unplug the "circuit opening relay" its above the gas pedal. this turns the fuel pump off but you keep spark, if it was just flooded, it will start.

if you smell no gas, then the CAS is probably not working, or the computer doesn't have power or something. basically if you give the ecu power, and rpm, it will fire the injectors/coils. unfortunately you need to get up for this...

We have tried starting fluid, and it will not start. It did start twice, but ran very poorly and for a short time, but that was on starting fluid. Also, we are smelling fuel out of the exhaust when trying to start, and when we pull the plugs back out.
Yes, sitting in the drivers seat I can feel the pulses from compression. So that appears to be sufficient to start the vehicle, haven't put a tester on it yet, but it seems that it should be ok. We have someone at the back unplugging the fuel pump, and we have de-flooded it for this problem several times as well. We have several people trying to find what's going on, I wouldn't be posting here if I wasn't stumped beyond hopefully what might be a simple thing, but I'm hoping for a simple fix.
The car is running on a megasquirt, so I'm 90% sure we have everything powered on and all the connections back to what they were, I don't see anything outside of that.

There are 4 marks on it, and according to the website looking at the top from left to right it should be 10 ATDC, 0, 10 BTDC and 20 BTDC

Could have put the CAS drive gear on backwards....chamfer up. If so it will still work fine.....the cas will line up all the way to one side.

So to update everyone, we got it running. Since we were using old housings and old apex seals we just had to do a little push start with some marvel mystery oil in it and it got home last night. I appreciate all the help!!
