Angry Need Help: Pulsator damper

Geez.....Does anyone know any easier way of getting to the PD(to change)then take the whole throttlebody/dynamic chamber off? I unbolted all the bolts and took all the hoses off and the thing wouldnt even budge. I just need to replace the PD with the banjo bolt I bought.

taking the upper intake off isnt hard, at all. Just unplug everything, unbolt the secondaries and set them aside, undo the linkage, unbolt the bolts to the lower intake.

I only counted 7 bolts, if theres 8 where the hell is it. I did unbolt and unplug everything. For some reason it wont budge or even widdle back and fourth to get loose. This is becoming a nightmare.....Grrrr!! I will look at my spare motor to see what im missing!! It just had to be that hose coming off the PD to be leaking.....shoulda been one of the others, those are easy to replace.

Take the hood off the car if you haven't already, it makes it a little easier to work under there and get to everything. At least it did for me. It is not too tough to get that manifold off, just take your time, get a FSM if you don't have it already, and use it to guide you if you get stuck. It is just a matter of making sure you have disconnected/unbolted everything you needed to. It can seem a bit tough to pull it off of there at first, but it is doable, be patient.

(In case you don't have the FSM, check the FAQ https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...18#post5131218 )

Mother flocker there is an eighth bolt its directly under the secondary rail, up from the 4 connecting the TB to the engine. Its hard to figure things out when the engines in the car. I looked at my spare in the basement and sure enough theres the 8th one. That would explain why it wouldnt budge.

I can relate, I have two of my own, but still much younger.

You shouldn't need to remove the alternator, it doesn't really interfere if I remember correctly. Although I have been known to remove a lot of crap I did not need to, just because I was doing something for the first time and wanted lots of space, so it's your call, whatever it takes to get it done right?

Edit - I would highly recommend the FSM, in the past I have seen Haynes manuals for other cars that I felt where not as good as the FSM. Just my personal preference.

Yes with the help of all of you, thanks I got it out about a 1/2 hour ago. Actually once everything was said and done it was easy, I will change my fuel lines, check vacuum hoses, clean up the block abit, and put in my newer injectors. Should I replace the o-rings for the injectors? Once all done it should be fun reinstalling it, might need ur help again for that. Oh ur right Six I didnt need to remove the alt.

Thanks abunch guys,

Chris

yeah i'd replace all o-rings if there not new, and gently remove the little brown plastic diffusers from the injector holes and replace the o-rings on those also. mazdatrix has them all but you can probably get a better price elsewhere. if you haven't replaced your vacuum lines previously i'd recommend doing it now. if there brittle and will break replace em. i think thats pretty much it,

You may not want to mess with the diffusers a whole lot. They are typically fragile, and if you break one they are shockingly expensive for just a piece of plastic!

Yea I pulled the diffusers out and clean them up, use a pin to clean out the little holes. Im using the 88 TB in this swap, replaced some vacuum hoses/fuel lines that needed to be replaced. Replaced injectors and put my banjo bolt in place of the PD, made my own Plenum gasket with gasket paper(would of took forever to order).

Um............One question, Where does the throttle cable go? The bottom link or is the top link for the cruise?
