Need help! NOOB jspec engine swap
I swapped an 87 tII with s5 j-spec motor. I had a major water leak and replacing the water pump didn't help. Mechanic says exhaust and turbo won't fit/work. It's kind of a hybrid install using the s5 j-spec block and my s4 everything else. Is this accurate? Why not and will a US version work/fit? He says it has to do with the emissions stuff.
Oh crap dude.
The exhaust and turbo will fit.
The dash harness is not compatible with the S5 ecu. It is much easier to use a s4 motor with a s4 car.
There are many threads that explain this.

So there is no difference in the shape? The emissions stuff will hook up fine? The j-spec s5 turbo and manifold will work? Why is he giving me such a hard time? I don't have time to do it myself, so I'm relying on this mechanic.

If you got an entire clip it should come with the longblock, ecu, and all the wiring harnesses, which means that there should be no problems. If you are using the wiring and manifolds off of an S4 then you have to make sure that all your electronics and sensors are S4. Whether or not it's Jspec shouldn't really matter as I have put a Jspec motor in my US car with US wiring, there just might be a few minor wiring adjustments. This is what I found in my experience.
