Need help. no power when turn key!!!!!
ok let me explain my situation. I have looked around through all of these threads and i have found problems similar to mine but when i go to fix it and try the things previously stated....it is not what is wrong with mine. so let me tell you what is going on and maybe you can help me. OK i bought a 88 10AE and i want to get it up and running and i need some help. ok so first of all. when i got it this was the problem: turn the key, nothing happens. i mean nothing at all. no sounds no light no anything. But i do know the car is getting power from the battery because i can turn on my headlight, break lights, hazzards..that kind of thing. no interior lights tho. so i talked to a lot of people and posted a thread on here..and everyone said the ignition switch. so first i took a multimeter and tested the current coming to the switch...and its all good. so i thought they were right and that the switch was worn out or whatever..but then once i purchased a known good switch...same exact thing. nothing happened still. please help me out. thanks a lot!!
no i do not get power to any position at all. and i thought i had gone through and replaced every necessary fuse..but i will definitely go back and check again. thank you for the quick reply. anything else it could be? ..if all the fuses are good
The main fuse is good because the headlights work.
If the warning lights and the wipers also do NOT work with the key to ON, then you lost the power feed to the ignition switch.
Look inboard and about six inches below the engine fuse BOX, and you'll see a single black wire with connector. Make sure it's plugged in. IT feeds the ignition switch.
Seems I wrote these same words twelve minutes ago on another thread. Maybe I need to cut and paste more.

I apologize. I was sure the Main fed the other fuses. How odd.
So either the Main fuse is kaput or the single black wire with the single connector located about six inches below the engine bay fuse box is off.

Hey guys,
i have the same problem with my vert lately.... the car would start up and run perfect and then just die on me. i would have to wait anywhere from 5-15 min and something would re-set itself and then i can re-start the car. When the car shuts off i get no ignition at all in any position, no idiot lights, i get hazards and headlights and other items non related to the ignition column.
i still have not figured it out yet. if you stick your head in the engine bay when the car dies and wait the 15 min or so, you would hear something re-set by going click and then the power to the ignition column is restored...
strangest thing i ever experienced.

i had the same problem and wot i found was that at the back of the switch where all the wires come out of the end of the inginition take the white plug of the back of the barrel and have a look to see if the slot in the plastic thing is and make sure its alright.
