Need Help 89 vert

ok when i push in on the clutch sometimes i hear a grinding crunching sound.
and lately sometimes when its in N and when i shift to 1st it does not want to go in and i have to turn the car off and shift into 1st and turn on.
just wondering what could be going bad replace the whole clutch or syncronisers or somthing

Have you hecked the clutch master and slave and the fluid yet?

Are you sure the the slave is pushing the throwout bearing arm?. Have someone press the clutch while you look at the slave from the engine compartment.The clutch master cylinder can be bad even if there is no external leak. It could have an internal leak where the flid just returns to the resivour when you press the peddle. The slave can be changed from the engine compartment. The MC bolts are accessable from the inside of the car. They are on the firewall next to the steering column. Change the hose to a SS one. It does give a better clutch feel.
If none of the above you have to start thinking the clutch assembly and/or throwout bearing. Replace everything while you have it appart. It is better than replacing another component in a short.

Sounds like your pilot bearing is taking a crap.

if the noise stops when the pedal is let up then yes it is probably the throw out bearing. Either way I would change them both.

yeah I would just swap in a new clutch, cleed the fluid and check the release bearing arm and make sure it is not bent..
