#1, the base model was called the base, and not a SE. The SE was only available as the base model in '88.

#2 the base model came with 4 lug wheels, the 88 AE was a turbo and came with the 5 lug wheels

Didn't the se have 4 lug with a 4x114.3 pattern and the AE have 5 lug with 5x110 pattern?

Maybe I just need a nap.

No, the SE did come with 4x114.3, but the 10AE came with 5x114.3, not 5x110.

you go to the junk yard, or someone selling parts, you find some 5 lug brakes and hubs, you buy the hubs and brakes off of them and replace the brakes and hubs on your car with the 5 lug ones.

So you would get better brakes and you could fit the 5 lug wheels on then.

I suppose you could buy them new, but I am sure it would very expensive.

As far as Kit & Caboodle, yes you would need to replace the hub (which the brake rotor attaches too), the brake rotor, the brake caliper, and the brake line at the caliper on each corner.
