Need Answer Fast!
i have a 86 se and i recently picked up a 86 gxl for free from a buddy. lets get strait to the pont. i want to swap the lsd, wheel hub, suspension, and radiator into me se model(gxl is 5 lug, se is 4) now the question is do i need to swap the whole rear end or would the lsd bolt right up to the four lug rear end? my buddy told me that the open diff drive shaft wont fit the lsd? if thats the case do i need a different driveshaft? one more thing, the gxl does not run, it is missing intake manafold and other parts so i dont plan to get that car running.

uhhhh....well im not so sure, but! i know that my car (91 vert) has an open diff and if i were to swap to a T2 engine and trans i would need either a hybrid driveshaft or a T2 rear end which happens to be LSD so.....i know that doesnt really answer your question, but, if you have both car why dont you just look? or try? as long as its not your daily driver its a much better learning experiance to TRY instead of having someone tell you

All nonturbo 5sp driveshafts are the same.
All nonturbo halfshafts are the same.
All nonturbo differential casings and flanges have the same fitment, though the LSD's are internally different.
All you need to do is bolt up the new diff into your existing halfshaft/driveshaft setup.

Nothing from a turbo drivetrain bolts up to an NA drivetrain; when swapping parts between the 2, everything from the flywheel to the rear axles must be swapped.
I generally work from around noon or 1 until 10 or 12 at night, running errands, taking breaks, and answering phones in between there.

What is a good quick way to get an LSD rear end untill I can get the TII swap in my vert? When I run touge, I love my 7, but the pig she is, always puts so much weight on the outside and spins the inside on the uphill runs <-doesn't run downhill, car is to big.

I dont sell anything new, aftermarket, or performance for the cars; I really only do engine rebuilds, remove, installs, and sometimes I will do smaller side jobs like clutches etc. Generally you must always bring your own parts for install when you come. I work from home. Please read the website for a better idea of what I do.
As for your LSD question, an lsd from an 86-88 GXL 5sp is what you need to find, also an 88 GTU should have one as well. These are clutch pack type LSDs that bolt right up to your existing nonturbo setup. ONe from an automatic GXL would be the wrong ratio, keep in mind. None of the 89-91 nonturbos would have one unless you find a GTU-s which is a rare model that had a desireable 4.33 viscous LSD. I personally dont think it's worth the trouble unless you're under there for some other sort of job like a clutch or driveshaft.
