NA mods

Just bought a 1986 GXL w/ a clean body and really really low mileage (about 57k on the engine and body) , from what i read....the n/a's get 140hp at most stock(s4)...and even less hp at the wheels....is their any good mods that can unleash more HP at the wheels??? im looking to hit at least 170-180 hp at the wheels(na)...is it possible ...even with an n/a engine??? any imput will help thnx!

Full exhaust
Intake (cold air if you want to build it)
Ported Manifolds and TB (TB doesn't do a whole lot but if you got the time why not)
Lightweight flywheel and good clutch
Port the motor (will make hitting those numbers a lot easier)
Remove all emissions if you can (the cat will hold you back in the exhaust and if you ditch the cat the rest of the emissions is useless too)
MSD6a or something similar
Upgraded plug wires
Etc.......

The list goes on but those are some starters.

when you get a lightweight flywheel it comes with the counter weight. Is our engines balance inside or out? and how hard is it to install a light weight flywheel

We have front and rear counterweights that match the rotors you are using.

howabout you look in the archives for one of the lists?
buuuuut, for starters, intake, exhaust, and a fuel computer like a S-AFC should bring you safely into 14's.

No, just get the correct REAR counterweight for the rotors/front counterweight you already have.

Most aftermarket light flywheels use the stock AUTO TRANS rear counterweight.

A few companies are coming out with flywheels with built in counterweights. These are straight bolt on that requires no additional counterweight.

The need for or against a counterweight SHOULD be listed with any flywheel you are looking at buying.
