na hood on t2?

Other then running fmic is there any way to run a na hood on a t2 enigine with a TMIC? Maybe raise the rear of the hood up a couple inches? I know it wont be the best but is there a way?

(The T2 hood I got is all bent up .... would be nice to have a hood that matches the color of my car 4 a while also)

Thankz

Not with a TMIC. Even if you raise the rear, and you get it to physically to clear...you need air flow, and you wont get it. Same as not running an intercooler at all.
Get a FMIC, or use a TII hood.

You could mount the tmic up front if you want.

buy a cheapo hood scoop off ebay and cut a hole in the hood over the TMIC. That's what my buddy at work did to his T2. Of course now he's got a T70 and FMIC, but regardless, when he had his stock turbo and TMIC, he was using a GXL hood.

Aaron Cake did this for his turbo'd NA and even took pictures - apparently you don't have to modify the intercooler too much other than taking off the aluminum shields and there's a convenient mounting point already there - check the 2nd Gen FAQs.

hmmm does anybody have anything like this for a turbo engine, not for a NA engine. The dynamic chamber on the passenger side of the car is different from a turbo obviously. What route did they do for the dynamic chamber on the driver side (like a stock t2?)

I would recommend a Carbon Fiber hood for your car with the hood scoop. The hood is pricey but it will look nice on any FC.

my old TII was hit by a truck , and the hood was bend,
so I put a NA hood in , it barely fit ,it will scratch the intercooler cover,
but it will be a little bit hard to close the hood ...
I think it is not a big problem If your TII is running stock boost
because I don't feel any power different and my EGT was about the same temp. when
I had the NA hood

Hah, that's what i'm doing with my T2 swap. Can't afford FMIC, so i'm going to put my angle-grinder to good use.

And a Megan-Racing Black ABS hood scoop. Pop-rivet that sucker on. LOL

I'll get an FMIC eventually and replace the hood with another NA...

Here - I'll even do the legwork for you.

That's a full writeup with pictures of Aaron Cake modifying the stock TII intercooler for front mounting.

thats for a "NA turbo install". I know the intercooler would mount the same and such, but my motor has the dynamic chamber on the driver side of the engine.

You're right I didn't think of that - but I would think that makes it easier too, because you don't have to have both intercooler lines running on the same side of the car.

I mean, really - you'd use the same tubing that eleventy hundred TII drivers used for their FMIC, you just use it for your stock intercooler. In fact, if you cut it and use a 90 near the front, then that would make for a real easy true FMIC upgrade later.
