N/A to turbo swap!!!

I have a 1991 S5 rx-7 N/A. I just bought a JDM turbo 2 engine for my car. Let me start off by saying, im only 16 years old and i don't have enough experience to do this engine swap. i know what i need for it but dont know how to put it all together. I need someone to ballpark an estimate on how much it would cost to put my rx7 in a mazda dealership to get the engine rebuilt and then put the car together completly. The only parts i have for the swap is the turbo ECU, everything else is N/A stuff. can anyone ballpark me a price. Plz thank you!!! In dire need.

Sorry for the bad news, but no mazda dealership would touch that with a 10ft pole. I'm not even sure a mazda dealership would rebuild the engine. They would just try and sell you a Mazda reman. Even if you get someone else to do it, you are looking at several thousand dollars to get the engine rebuilt, installed, and tuned--thats if nothing goes wrong.

Do you have a place to work on your car? If so this could be a great chance to learn more about cars. My first project was an engine swap and that taught me a LOT.
Good luck.

yea i am still in high school and taking auto tech 2 so i can work on the car there, and i have 5k to fix the rx-7, its been sitting in front of my house for like a year now and all ive been doing is staring at it. but i have 5 grand to fix it, just dont know how much it would cost. And i would fix it myself if i knew how or even if someone that knew how was there helping me, but noone that i know, knows hows anything about rotaries. so it sucks. I just need some advice on what to do cause i need a car fast.

I'm sure theres a writeup somewhere on pulling a motor. You could find an RX7club member thats near you to do the swap for some cash...

BTW if you don't already know, you need the TII drivetrain as well because the NA drivetrain is too weak for that much power.

It doesn't sound like pulling off an NA to turbo swap is the best idea for you right now.

No Mazda dealer will touch it, and even if they did the bill would likely exceed $10K just for labour.

Your best bet is to hit your regional forum and see if there is someone who can help you.

Make sure to check the FAQ as it lists everything needed for this swap.

read up rotaryressurection.com. there's a pretty good description on how to do the swap.

N/A -> Turbo Conversion

just becuase i'm bored and have nothing to do. should pretty much tell you everything you need to do. once you get familiar with the motor you will realize it's a fairly simple thing. i'm in the middle of swapping one in my sport.

i agree with arron cake you need to look for other people in your area for help and guideance for this swap ive done mine own . on my own and not knowing how to do it ,but i read my butt off in this forums to find out what i need and knowhow. mine took 4years but it is running great! i have a few more things to do to mine and shell be road worthy . ive spent like 4grand total in cost but mostly doing all the work myself and getting discount parts at your local parts stores.

the dealership is the devil!!!!!!!! never go there...

i have a 86se converted to a total jdm turbo2 swap
