N/A Preformance

I have an 86 GXL, i would like to know how much HP i can get from a na motor. My goal is around 200 whp. Is that reasonable or should i do TII swap?

That's the upper limit, but it's do-able. Large street port, full exhaust, cold air cone intake (every little bit counts), tuning, higher compression, just a little higher rpm and hmm... I think that's supposed to be around 180-190 wHp but there's probably a way to do 200. Basically anything behind that and you have to start doing some crazy stuff and then while it's plenty doable you're probably better off going turbo. So 200 is borderline. Up to you man.

Sure, 200whp with an n/a is possible, but streetability starts to go out the window. If you want a mild 200, turbo is the way to go.

200 WHP is tough with an NA. It's impossible with the stock 86 engine management.

The short list of things you'll need:
Header, no cat, open exhaust.
Stand alone ECU - Allows dumping the AFM
Fresh ported engine - This will kill any power off the line, but it will scream above 5000 RPM
A few hours of dyno time and a tuner that knows how to work on the EMS your running

When you're done, you'll have a very loud semi-streetable NA. Good luck!
