rtek guys help me out

so my plan with my 91 turbo 2 is to run an rtek 1.7, greddy 720cc secondaries, a walbro fuel pump, ported s5 turbo,a 3 inch turboback exhaust,a fmic, a boost controller, and an safc..
my question is whether it is safe to run 12 psi without getting it tuned on a dyno?

I got a s5 turbo with walbo pump, rtek 1.8, 720cc primary and secondary, 3inch turbo exhaust, perrin manual boost controller, safc 2, stock ported turbo, and stock intercooler.
I am running 12 pounds of boost (creeps to 14 max at around 4-5k only in 3rd and 4th gear pull, then normalize)
I havent even dyno the car yet so I dont know what kind of power its making but I did beat a challenger R/T on the highway at 30 mph roll.
I also beat my friends civic on the highway which runs 13.5 1/4 mile

On a stock turbo, its pretty east to just tune it with a wideband A/f and a safc2 or some kind of fuel management system. Dont really need to go all out for a stock turbo. You would also benefit from a EGR monitoring system also to see how your timing is.
I keep my A/F ratio at 10.5-11 on full boost from 4.5k-8k to be safe. And my timing is retarded by 3 degrees from stock, also just to be safe. But rtek also retards the timing automatically above 9psi if I remember.

I will probably dyno my car during winter months. I would run my car at the track, but the car wheel hops so bad (bad diff mount, pinion snubber helped a little bit), I could feather the clutch out but Id rather fix it, but thats a next year project lol.

If you are going to push the psi up, you should atleast get a wideband A/F system.

Get a wideband just to be safe. Then as long as it doesn't get too lean, you are great.

12psi is fine for that setup. Make sure to keep boost creep under control and you will be fine.

What's a tune cost nowadays? A couple hundred bucks? An engine rebuild is at least 3 grand. Just play it safe and tune right away.

Don't bother with the safc. Do it right and save up for a EMS. I'm running about the same setup as stated in the original post, I'm tuning it with a wideband and the safc neo, and I really dislike the safc.

With the money you save not doing the rtek and safc, it will be a good start for buying a used standalone.

It should be fine, but definetly get the wideband. I'm running similar setup with TMIC, FD fuelpump, wideband, FPR, no SAFC and at 12psi, I'm seeing mid 11s AFR. The Walbro might be too rich for your setup, I had the Walbro in last week, and it was making my 7run pig rich! ...the readings were at around 10s all day long, so I put the FD pump back. But then again you're running a FMIC, then you might be ok with the walbro, either way, get a wideband as suggested, and you can used the SAFC to finetune. Good luck!
