n/a motor with turbo 2 tranny ???
ok i have a n/a 13b from a second gen (unknown year, all i know is it is a 6 port) that i want to use in my 85 fb with a turbo 2 tranny i have. i know i need to change the oil pan, front cover and oil pick up . i have a turbo 2 clutch kit but want to know if i can use the n/a flywheel or must i use the turbo 2 flywheel? also do i need to change the counter weights???
i know there probably have been a thread on this before but i could not find it .

i hate to sound like a noob but when it comes to second gens i am . so can someone tell me why? i am using a 2nd gen motor with a 2nd gen tranny. why would the counter weights be different or the flywheel. i am not going to run a turbo set up just the tranny.
You need to know what year the engine is to get the correct turbo flywheel. s4 and s5 rotating stuff is weighted differently.
SOOOO, if you have a s4 NA motor you need a s4 turbo flywheel. A s5 turbo flywheel would NOT work in that case.
Post a pic of the engine and we can tell you what year it is.

A. Thread bumping isn't allowed in the Technical section.
B. The motor is an 86-88. the middle iron appears to be N/a while the front and rear appear to be turbo.
C. Every question you asked is found VERY easily by searching. AND some of them were answered in the FAQ.

^ Agreed. This is a mix of S4 or S5 NA and TII parts. The rotating assembly could be from either series, so you're going to be guessing. Did you buy this engine from someone else? If so, I'd suggest contacting them to ask what parts the engine was built with.
GOOD call. i missed those knock sensors threads, it looks like N/a s5 housings b/c of the red paint in the intake manifold coolant ports. a close up pic of the intake side would tell.
but that being said, theres no telling what rotating assembly you have, like RotaryRocket said.

bought the motor from craigs list so i have no way of getting back in touch with the seller.
So at this point what should i do about the flywheel and counter weights? s4 or s5? Is there really that big of a difference in the 2 .

If the guy pulled it from a running car, this should help: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showpo...15&postcount=7
Back in my noob days i put a s5 rear counter weight on a s4 motor. It was not pretty. 2k rpms the thing was vibrating like crazy and had no power what so ever. Make sure you get the right weighting on there or you are just wasting you time.
ok .. the flywheel is marked N350 witch is a 89-91 so that means i need a s5 turbo front counter weight and s5 turbo flywheel. does this mean i will have to use the turbo started too ?
