N/A's and Microtechs

Hey all,

For those that have non-turbo 2nd gens and are looking for more power and torque on the low end and midrange, the microtech was a great upgrade.

You should consider getting in on the group buy.

Check out the following thread for my comments and hopfully some reasons to help convince you to join the stand-alone world as I did. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=190600

Granted the peak power numbers aren't as much as one might want, but the midrange and low end feels much much better, the car gets better gas mileage, and there is only more power to come. Ray and I didn't really have much insight on the whole tuning thing but Brandon says he can get more peak power outta my car. I also should be able to pass the sniffer test with a custom map). I would have had to spend 350-400 bucks alone to get a Super AFC to lean my car out to pass emissions

Plus, the sky is the limit really when it comes to future modifications.

I will be doing this later in the summer, hopefully before the GB is over. And your #'s were done on stock ports right?

I would just like to point out that every other standalone EMS will have similar results. Yes, this is an excellent modification, and I think it's a great value for the money, assuming you want to spend that much on your car.

Hey Silver88GXL, if you have time, would you please try something with your new EMS? With the idle set for normal street use, and starting in 1st gear, try slowly driving around a parking lot in all 5 gears without touching the gas pedal.

If the car can do it, then it shows the superior control of the EMS vs. the stock computer and AFM which would instantly stall out the engine. This is a standard sales pitch of the Wolf EMS dealers, and I was just wondering if the new Microtech EMS can also do it.

You bet me to it. It's not just NA rotaries either, but practically any engine out there that will show substantial improvement. Note that tuning is just as important as which EMS you choose, probably more so. A well tuned Microtech will give much better performance than a poorly tuned MoTec (but I know which I'd rather start with).

Yup, the motor is stock internal with about 70k on the clock (rough estimate on mileage, could be a few more).

You are right, every standalone EMS will provide similar results, but the microtech seems so much less complex than the Wolf or Haltech. As for the parking lot no gas pedal deal, I will give it a shot, unless you are setting me up for utter failure
