a cloud of white smoke out of exhaust
I have a **** load of white smoke coming out of my exhaust upon start up. I know everyone says that whte smoke equals bad coolant seals, but here is the situation.
1. no bubbles or white foam out of radiator
2. white smoke smells hella rich, like fuel
3. EGT stays under 600 degrees farenhiet during idle
4. car does not flood
5. I have an oil leak between the center housing and exhaust housing of the turbo.
6. oil could be getting into the exhaust from turbo
7. thermostat works, just tested it
8. haven't done a compression test yet, but car drives strong
9. just started having 3,000 rpm stumble
10. wierd sound when just coasting in gear ( not on the gas, just rolling in gear) sounds like it's coming out of exhaust.
11. almost no exhaust leaks
12. hasn't gone away after warming up, but does not smoke when driving above 2,500 rpm or when EGT is at about 1,000 degrees farenhiet
I don't know what it is. oh yeah the car hasn't run on the streets for about two to four months

Listen to what everyone else says... White smoke at startup means coolant leak. When you shut the car off, the residual pressure from the coolant system forces a small amount of water/antifreeze into the cumbustion chamber. When you restart the car, the coolant burns off giving a white cloud.
Do this test: Next time you park the car after driving it, pop the hood and immediatly open the radiator cap. (Use a towel so you don't burn yourself) Relieve the pressure fully and wait. When you restart the car, odds are that you won't see the white cloud.
You can always try the CRC Block Weld repair.

turns out that the smoke was oil blowing into the exhaust housing of the turbo and burning, that's why it was smoking. The oil is either from the engine (which means I have to rebuild the engine because of blown oil control rings) or it's still coming out of the turbo.
